For Cyberpunk 2077’s official 4K/60 FPS Ray Tracing: Overdrive target, CD PROJEKT RED lists a GeForce RTX 4080, Intel Core i9-12900 or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, 24 GB of RAM, and 70 GB of NVMe storage. The developer measured that Overdrive target with DLSS Frame Generation enabled, so it is a configured target—not a guarantee of 60 FPS at native rendering on every PC. “Max settings” can also mean the less demanding standard Ultra preset, which has a different hardware target.
What does “max settings” mean in Cyberpunk 2077?
There are distinct high-end targets in CD PROJEKT RED’s requirements table: standard Ultra without ray tracing, Ray Tracing Ultra, and Ray Tracing: Overdrive. Overdrive is the path-traced option and the most demanding of these configurations. The table covers Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty.
The figures below are the developer’s expected targets for named configurations, not guaranteed results. CD PROJEKT RED notes that performance varies with hardware and software configuration, settings, and output resolution.

CD PROJEKT RED’s system requirements specify that the Overdrive target was measured with DLSS Frame Generation switched on. If you want the listed 4K/60 Overdrive configuration, the RTX 4080 is the clearest GPU reference; the developer’s table does not establish that an equivalent target will be reached with Frame Generation off.

How demanding is Overdrive?
CD PROJEKT RED describes Overdrive as very GPU-intensive and off by default. Its guidance recommends RTX 40 Series cards from the RTX 4070 Ti upward; it also mentions the RTX 3090 for 1080p at 30 FPS. Those are separate guidance points, not substitutes for the table’s RTX 4080 configuration for expected 4K/60 Overdrive.
NVIDIA describes Overdrive as full ray tracing, also called path tracing, which models light throughout a scene. It identifies the implementation as a technology preview. NVIDIA also says DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction is available in the base game’s Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty.

CD PROJEKT RED’s Overdrive guidance lists VRAM figures of 8 GB at 1080p, 10 GB at 1440p, and 12 GB at 2160p for rendering path-traced screenshots in Photo Mode on other ray-tracing-capable cards. These are Photo Mode screenshot thresholds, not live Overdrive gameplay requirements.
Which configuration should you aim for?
For 4K Overdrive
Use the official Overdrive row as the target: RTX 4080, Core i9-12900 or Ryzen 9 7900X, 24 GB RAM, and NVMe storage. Its expected 60 FPS result assumes DLSS Frame Generation is enabled.

For 4K standard Ultra
If you mean the standard Ultra preset without ray tracing, the developer’s 4K/60 target is lower: RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 7900 XTX, the same listed CPU tier, 20 GB RAM, and NVMe storage. This is not the Overdrive target.
For Ray Tracing Ultra
The table’s Ray Tracing Ultra target is 1080p/60, with an RTX 3080 Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Core i9-12900 or Ryzen 9 7900X, 20 GB RAM, and NVMe storage. It should not be conflated with either 4K standard Ultra or 4K Overdrive.

Storage and lower requirements tiers
The listed high-end configurations call for 70 GB of NVMe storage. In its June 11, 2023 requirements update, CD PROJEKT RED said it removed HDD support from minimum requirements because SSDs provide faster loading and improved streaming.
For context, the developer’s non-ray-tracing minimum is a 1080p low preset targeting 30 FPS, with a GTX 1060 6 GB, RX 580 8 GB, or Arc A380, 12 GB RAM, and a 70 GB SSD. Its non-ray-tracing recommended tier targets 1080p high at 60 FPS with an RTX 2060 Super, RX 5700 XT, or Arc A770 and 16 GB RAM. These are not requirements for Overdrive.

Can you play without a high-end local GPU?
NVIDIA presents GeForce NOW as an option for streaming Cyberpunk 2077 with RTX effects to lower-end devices, using PC games owned through supported digital stores. Before relying on it, check current regional availability, service tier, network requirements, and compatibility with the store where you own the game; those details can vary.
What the FPS target does—and does not—promise
The published numbers are configuration targets for specific resolutions and presets. They do not establish universal performance across all PCs, and the Overdrive 4K/60 figure specifically relies on DLSS Frame Generation. CD PROJEKT RED cautions that measured FPS can change with hardware and software, settings, and output resolution.
