Yes—but Game Pass itself does not guarantee keyboard-and-mouse support. The answer depends on whether you are installing a native Windows version, playing the Xbox console version, or streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game and platform determine the controls, while your Game Pass plan determines whether you can access that version.
For the broadest selection, use PC Game Pass on Windows. On Xbox consoles, use Microsoft Store’s live Console Keyboard & Mouse plus Game Pass filter. For streaming, check the individual cloud game’s mouse-and-keyboard badge or Microsoft’s mouse-and-keyboard gallery.
The short version
- Windows PC: Usually the easiest and largest choice because native PC games commonly use keyboard and mouse.
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One: Only selected games support the peripherals, and the developer decides how complete that support is.
- Xbox Cloud Gaming: Only selected streamed titles accept keyboard and mouse. Console or PC support does not automatically carry over to the cloud version.

A store capability badge is not always a promise of an identical PC-style experience. In practice, support can be:

- Full: Both devices work in gameplay and menus, with bindings, sensitivity or other input settings.
- Partial: Gameplay works but menus are limited, or only one peripheral is accepted.
- Menu/chat only: The keyboard is available for text entry but not for controlling the game.
- Platform-specific: A title may support keyboard and mouse on PC but not console, or on an installed copy but not in the cloud.
Some games allow a controller and keyboard/mouse to remain connected; others change prompts or input mode according to the most recently used device. An Xbox can recognize a USB device at system level even when the game does not accept it for gameplay.
Good Game Pass choices by genre
These are examples reported in the relevant PC, console or Game Pass listings. Verify the current platform, plan and input badge before launching.
Strategy and management
- Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires IV — mouse selection and keyboard shortcuts make these natural fits.
- Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Planet Coaster 2 — management interfaces generally benefit from a pointer.
- Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition — useful for players who prefer keyboard-heavy controls, although the console interface is adapted.
Shooters
- Halo Infinite, Call of Duty and Sniper Elite: Resistance are commonly listed for PC and, where currently badged, Xbox console keyboard/mouse play.
- Native installation is normally preferable to cloud streaming for competitive aiming because latency and image quality matter. Multiplayer input or matchmaking rules can change by game, so check the title’s current policy.
Survival and sandbox games
- ARK: Survival Evolved, ARK: Survival Ascended, Grounded and Minecraft for Windows are useful keyboard-and-mouse candidates.
- Sea of Thieves supports keyboard and mouse on PC and Xbox console listings; cloud support must be checked separately.
Simulation
- Microsoft Flight Simulator and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 can use keyboard and mouse, but a controller or dedicated flight hardware may still be more comfortable for some actions.
- High on Life and other PC-native games may expose standard Windows controls without offering identical controls on every platform.
A mouse is not automatically better. Driving, platforming, third-person action and radial-menu-heavy games can still feel better with a controller even when keyboard and mouse are technically supported.

The result count is dynamic—it has varied between crawls—so do not treat any published number as a permanent total. A recent snapshot included titles such as ARK: Survival Ascended, ARK: Survival Evolved, Call of Duty, Sea of Thieves, Halo Infinite, Grounded, High on Life, Sniper Elite: Resistance, Jurassic World Evolution 2, Planet Coaster 2, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition. Warframe and Arma Reforger can also appear in capability results, but their appearance does not necessarily mean they are Game Pass entitlements.
Connecting devices to an Xbox
- Plug a compatible USB keyboard and mouse into the console, or use supported wireless devices with their USB receiver.
- Connect them before starting the game.
- Open the game’s Settings, Controls or Input menu and select keyboard/mouse if an input choice is provided.
- Set sensitivity, pointer options and key bindings.
- If the game still shows controller prompts, quit and relaunch it with the peripherals connected.
Console recognition alone does not create support; the game must implement the input.
Windows PC: the broadest route
The Xbox PC app provides hundreds of Game Pass PC titles alongside the wider Windows library and Xbox Play Anywhere games. Install the title’s native PC version, then inspect its Settings, Controls or Input screen. Game Pass adds access; it does not convert a controller-only game into a keyboard-and-mouse game.

Confirm that the particular title remains in your PC library and region.
Cloud Gaming: verify the streamed version
Xbox Cloud Gaming is a separate compatibility case. Xbox’s April 2026 update reported more than 190 cloud games with active mouse-and-keyboard support, but the cloud library and supported-input list can change. Microsoft also warns that streamed games may have limited accessory and peripheral functionality.
- Open Xbox Cloud Gaming and search for the game.
- Look for the mouse-and-keyboard designation or use the current dedicated gallery.
- Confirm the title is included in your plan and region.
- Connect the keyboard and mouse before starting the stream.
- If the game launches with controller prompts, exit, reconnect the devices and reopen it. Check the game’s input settings or try a supported browser or the Xbox app.
Cloud Gaming’s page lists qualifying plans such as Essential, Premium and Ultimate, subject to title and regional restrictions. Do not assume that Ultimate—or any one plan—universally unlocks every game or input mode.

Xbox recommends at least 10 Mbps for mobile devices and about 20 Mbps for PCs, consoles and tablets, with 5 GHz Wi-Fi preferred. A stable connection and nearby region matter as much as the headline speed. Cloud play avoids a download but adds streaming latency, and it is generally a weaker choice for competitive shooters than a native PC or console installation.

How to check before downloading or subscribing

Check the title immediately before playing. Xbox states that Game Pass titles, features and availability vary by plan, platform, region and time.
When the keyboard or mouse does not work
- Confirm you launched the intended version: PC install, Xbox console install or cloud stream.
- Check that the game is still included in your plan and region.
- Connect the devices before launching or relaunch the game after connecting them.
- Look for an input toggle, control preset or separate keyboard/mouse settings.
- Test the keyboard and mouse in another supported title to distinguish a device problem from a game limitation.
- For cloud play, verify the cloud badge; PC or console support is not proof of cloud support.
- If menus remain controller-only, classify the title as partial support rather than full keyboard-and-mouse support.
- Use the installed PC or console version when available.
Which setup should you choose?
- Choose PC Game Pass if keyboard and mouse are your priority and you have hardware that meets the game’s requirements.
- Choose an Xbox console if you already own one and your target games appear in the live Console Keyboard & Mouse filter.
- Choose cloud for convenience and no download, but verify the input badge and accept possible latency and peripheral limitations.
For hardware, wired USB devices are the simplest console option. Wireless models using a compatible USB receiver can reduce cable clutter; do not assume a Bluetooth-only device will work in every Xbox setup. Official accessory information is available through Xbox Accessories.

Does every PC Game Pass game support keyboard and mouse?
No. Native PC games often do, but support remains a game-level feature. Check the title’s controls and input settings.
Can I use keyboard and mouse with Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Only with selected cloud games carrying the relevant mouse-and-keyboard designation. Installed PC or console support does not automatically transfer to streaming.
What if the keyboard works but the mouse does not?
