There is no universally correct gun to sell. Before you decide, weigh ammunition availability, upgrade spending and whether you would be willing to pay to buy the weapon back.
How to decide which gun to sell
Use this rule: compare the gun you are considering with the weapon you currently prefer. If the older gun has been replaced and you have no reason to switch back to it, selling it to the Duke can free up Lei for a weapon or upgrade you value more. GameSpot’s 2021 beginner’s guide recommends tailoring upgrades to your playstyle and selling older guns as better versions become available; that is practical advice, not a mandatory game rule. - Sell it if you have replaced it with a gun you prefer and do not expect to use the old one.
- Keep it if you still rely on its role, prefer its handling, or want it as an alternative to your current weapon.
- Pause before selling if you are unsure you can afford to buy it back later.
What to consider before selling
Your playstyle and the weapon’s role
Do not sell a gun just because another weapon is available. Different guns can serve different purposes, and the better choice depends on how you play. GameSpot identifies power, rate of fire, reload speed and ammunition capacity as upgrade categories; consider which traits matter most to you before deciding where to spend Lei. GameSpot’s beginner’s guide
Ammunition you can actually get
A gun may be less useful if you cannot keep it supplied. PCGamesN notes that ammunition availability differs by type, so consider whether you have ammunition for the weapon you plan to keep before selling another option. PCGamesN’s weapon-upgrades guide

PCGamesN reports that weapons sold to the Duke remain in his inventory with their upgrades and can be bought back for Lei, though not at the original cost. If you are considering selling a gun you might want again, factor in that potential expense.
