When a game leaves Xbox Game Pass, it is no longer included with the subscription, so you cannot keep playing it through Game Pass. Xbox points members who want to continue playing toward buying the game; an eligible member discount may be up to 20%, but that is not guaranteed for every title or market.
Can you still play a game after it leaves Game Pass?
Not through the Game Pass catalog: once a title exits, the subscription no longer includes access to it. Xbox’s Game Pass games catalog describes its “Leaving soon” collection as titles exiting within the next two weeks. The live list can change, so check the game’s listing for your platform, region, and plan.
How can you keep playing?
Xbox’s stated option is to buy the game. Its catalog says, “To keep playing, buy now and save up to 20% with your member discount.” “Up to 20%” is a maximum, not a promise that a discount will appear for every game or account. Check the current store listing and the price shown to you before buying.
Before purchasing a specific departing title, confirm that the listing matches the platform and edition you play. The catalog cautions that availability varies over time, by region, Game Pass plan, and platform. A purchase from another retailer or for another platform may not provide the same entitlement; confirm the terms for that game and store rather than assuming it will.

What does “leaving soon” mean?
Xbox says games in its “Leaving soon” collection are due to exit within the next two weeks. Treat that as a prompt to check the live title listing, not as a permanent schedule. The catalog page accessed October 4, 2026 did not provide a usable current list in its captured text, so no specific game can be identified here as leaving now.
For context only, Xbox Wire’s February 3, 2026 announcement listed Madden NFL 24 for Cloud, Console, and PC as leaving on February 15, 2026, and mentioned savings of up to 20% for members who bought it. That was a past departure notice, not a current one.

Do you lose your save when a game leaves?
The official catalog and departure announcement cited here do not establish a universal rule for save retention or whether a save will work after a game leaves the subscription. They also do not settle how saves or entitlements behave across platforms, editions, or stores. Do not assume your save is deleted—or that it is guaranteed to remain usable. For a specific game, check its support information for your platform before its departure.
