What is Destiny: Rising?
Destiny: Rising is a mobile sci-fi RPG shooter set in the Destiny universe. NetEase Games develops and publishes it; Bungie licenses the universe and created the franchise. NetEase announced the game on October 14, 2024, as a free-to-play title for mobile devices.
The story takes place after a civilization-shattering Collapse, in the post-Dark Age period before the events of the original Destiny, according to the announcement. Its premise describes humanity rallying with the Iron Lords against alien forces while Ghosts resurrect a new generation of Lightbearers. This is an alternate-timeline story, not a replacement account of the main games’ continuity.
Is Destiny: Rising part of the Destiny series?
Yes: it is an officially licensed spin-off set in the Destiny universe. Its alternate timeline and mobile-first design distinguish it from the main games. NetEase’s announcement highlights new and familiar characters, character-specific abilities, campaign missions, co-op strikes, and competitive modes. Those announced features establish the game’s format, but do not by themselves show that it matches the main series in scale, quality, or combat feel.

When did Destiny: Rising come out, and where can you play it?
NetEase announced the game on October 14, 2024, then confirmed a worldwide release for iOS and Android on August 28, 2025. As checked on October 8, 2026, the official Destiny: Rising website labels it “AVAILABLE NOW.” The site also lists downloads through the App Store, Google Play, and a PC emulator; that emulator option is not evidence of a native PC release.
What modes and controls does it offer?
NetEase describes solo, co-op, and competitive play, with PvE and PvP modes. Announced activities include campaign missions and six-player co-op strikes; players can use characters with distinct abilities and switch between first- and third-person perspectives.

The announcement says players can use touchscreen controls or a compatible controller. Compatibility depends on both the mobile device and the game, so check support for your specific setup before choosing a controller.
What is the game’s current official-site status?
On October 8, 2026, the official site showed a “Weekly Patch Notes 1008” entry dated October 7, 2026, and a maintenance notice scheduled to start October 8 at 03:00 UTC-7. That dated notice does not establish whether maintenance is still underway or whether servers are live now.

What was announced before launch?
In July 2025, NetEase reported that Destiny: Rising had reached 5 million pre-orders and said the milestone would unlock 10 free draws at launch. These are company-reported pre-launch figures and an announced launch reward, not a current player count or a statement about present-day availability.
The August 2025 launch release also described a cross-promotion: completing the “Bear the Light” event in Destiny: Rising would let players redeem an exclusive Destiny 2 emblem through Bungie.net. That was a launch-era promotion; the announcement does not establish whether it remains available.
