Its strangest reported twist is “Cyberleek”: a fictional hacker can threaten to leak your unreleased game or demand a place in it. Steam currently lists 11 February 2027 as the planned Early Access date, while a free demo is available now.
What is Let’s Build a Dungeon?
Developed and published by Springloaded, Let’s Build a Dungeon puts two connected jobs in your hands: running a game studio and making the studio’s fantasy MMORPG. The management side covers hiring developers, schedules, investors, finances, publicity and industry events. The creative side lets you shape a world with towns, quests, monsters, dungeons and other assets, then tune it for simulated players and play the game you have made.
That makes the premise more involved than a conventional level editor. You are not only designing content; you are also dealing with the business decisions and production pressures surrounding a game project. Steam describes tools for stories, dialogue, cutscenes, characters and gameplay mechanics, as well as browsing and uploading user-created games. Its full-game listing also names Twitch integration and online co-op.
What does “cyberleeked” mean?
“Cyberleek” is a reported in-game crisis, not a real-world malware feature or a claim that the game puts your computer at risk. In a PC Gamer interview, Springloaded founder and lead developer James Barnard described a fictional hacker who investigates the studio’s situation and holds the player to ransom. Barnard said the hacker may threaten to leak the game or try to get included in it: “He’s either going to leak the game, or he’s or he’s going to convince you to put him in the game. There’s lots of different outcomes.”

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The joke works because it turns the studio simulation back on the game being made inside it: a project that is normally the player’s creative work becomes leverage in a business crisis. PC Gamer’s feature also describes fictional competitors, evolving hardware and the practicalities of travelling to showcases as parts of the wider simulation.
How deep does the studio simulation go?
Competitors and an evolving industry
Barnard said the simulation includes a growing roster of fictional rival games: “We have, like, 700 [fictional] games or something, and the list keeps on getting longer.” That is an approximate developer description, not an independently counted total. The rivals help make the studio’s world feel like an industry rather than a project in isolation.

Hardware changes can also affect production. Barnard gave the move from CGA to VGA as an example: higher-resolution assets take up more space, so upgrading computers and accommodating larger files become part of the studio’s concerns.
Showcase travel has logistical consequences
Where the studio is based can matter when sending staff to events. Barnard told PC Gamer that the game calculates the distance to a showcase and the travel time, including stopovers; the office’s location therefore affects the trip. These details make the management layer extend beyond staffing and budgets into the practical costs of participating in the game industry.

When does Let’s Build a Dungeon come out?
Steam lists 11 February 2027 as the planned Early Access date and says the full game is not yet available for purchase. The date is provisional and may change. The official listing describes Campaign, Just Build and Creative modes for Early Access; its roadmap also mentions Dungeoneering as a planned full-release addition. The demo’s currently playable modes are listed separately above, so planned full-game content should not be taken as a promise that every feature is already in the demo.
