Monkey Booze is an optional dialogue item in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Offer it to Isshin Ashina, the Sculptor, or Emma to hear a different character memory; it is not presented as a combat or healing item.
What does Monkey Booze do?
Using Monkey Booze means offering it to one of three characters to unlock additional dialogue. The conversations add pieces of their histories and are optional narrative content, rather than a required upgrade or a listed gameplay effect.

What does each character say?
Isshin Ashina
Isshin associates the drink with “Shura’s Wine” and recalls killing someone who became Shura. This is a story connection in his dialogue; it does not mean the inventory item causes Sekiro to become Shura.
The Sculptor
The Sculptor remembers training with another rogue shinobi in a valley where monkeys lived. He says he drank Monkey Booze when tired of training. The exchange also refers to his partner’s whistling finger and ring.

What is Monkey Booze in the story?
The item description says it is alcohol formed from dew collected in a hollow tree. Monkeys hide fruit in tree hollows, where it can ferment into sake by chance.

Where can you find Monkey Booze?
The item reference lists three in-game pickups or rewards:
- As a reward after defeating the large group of monkeys shortly before the Bodhisattva Valley Sculptor’s Idol, the first time you reach the area.
- In a statue’s hands in a side room near the White Pinwheel in Senpou Temple.
- In a skull beside a monkey near the entrance to Guardian Ape’s Burrow in Ashina Depths.
These locations are listed by a community-maintained item reference; they are not independently confirmed here against an official guide.

Who should you give it to?
Choose based on which backstory you want to hear: Isshin’s Shura-related memory, the Sculptor’s training history, or Emma’s childhood recollection. The item’s purpose is to open those conversations, so the choice is about narrative rather than gaining a combat advantage.
