Some later text is reported to use they/them wording, but that wording alone does not establish a confirmed change in his gender identity or explain the creator’s intent.
How Deltarune refers to Ralsei
Ralsei is identified in character references as a Darkner prince, and the story’s descriptions and dialogue predominantly use he/him language for him. That is the strongest basis for describing how he is presented in the game. The character reference is a secondary compilation, not a direct statement from the game’s creator: Ralsei character reference.
What the they/them wording does—and does not—tell us
A pronoun overview records a they/them instance associated with the title “Dark Vine,” alongside the predominant he/him usage. Readers have also discussed reported they/them wording in Chapter 5 title text and Asgore dialogue. These are reported uses of language, but the wording by itself does not settle whether Ralsei identifies differently, whether the text has another contextual explanation, or whether the story is signaling a change. The overview is a secondary source, while the discussion records fan interpretations rather than an official ruling: pronoun overview and fan discussion.
Has the creator confirmed Ralsei’s gender?
The sources available for this answer do not provide a direct developer statement defining Ralsei’s gender identity or explaining the reported pronoun variation. It would therefore be inaccurate to present a particular explanation as confirmed authorial intent. The careful distinction is: he/him and prince are the predominant presentation; some later wording is reported as they/them; the meaning of that variation has not been established by a cited creator statement.

Could later chapters add context?
The official DELTARUNE site lists Chapters 1–5 as available and says more chapters are planned as free updates. Its help page likewise describes the completed work as currently reaching Chapter 5. Because the story is still planned to continue, future text could add context, but it should not be assumed in advance: official DELTARUNE site and official help page.
