Rush is EA SPORTS FC 25’s fast-paced 5v5 football mode. In online Ultimate Team and Clubs matches, each side has four user-controlled outfield players and an AI goalkeeper; in Kick-Off and Manager Career couch co-op, players control the team apart from the goalkeeper. A match is one seven-minute period, with no half-time.
What is Rush mode in EA SPORTS FC 25?
Rush is EA’s small-sided, 5v5 take on football, using the same core controls and football mechanics as 11v11. It appears in four parts of FC 25: Football Ultimate Team, Clubs, Manager Career, and Kick-Off. Manager Career and Kick-Off Rush are couch co-op only; Ultimate Team and Clubs also offer online play. EA’s Rush Deep Dive describes the mode as a social small-sided experience.

How many players are on a Rush team?
Each Rush team has five positions, but the number of human-controlled players depends on the mode.
| Mode | Team control | Play and progression |
|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Team | Four user-controlled outfield players plus an AI goalkeeper. | Bring a Player Item from your squad. Match completion and squad-building challenges can contribute Rush Points or bonuses toward weekly objectives. |
| Clubs | Four user-controlled outfield players plus an AI goalkeeper. | Play with clubmates or other players. Wins add Victory Points to the Club total, and Rush Points contribute to individual rank. |
| Manager Career | Couch co-op players control the team apart from the goalkeeper. | Available through Academy youth tournaments. |
| Kick-Off | Couch co-op players control the team apart from the goalkeeper. | Available from the Rush tab in Kick-Off. |
EA’s Rush help page explains the mode availability and team setup. The control setup is not identical across modes: online Ultimate Team and Clubs assign individual outfield players, while local Kick-Off and Manager Career let players control the team.

How do you start a Rush match?
Use the menu path for the mode you want. EA’s menu labels may change with game updates.
- Ultimate Team: Open Ultimate Team, choose Play, then Rush. Select Play Drop-In to find teammates or Play with Friends to invite them.
- Clubs: Choose Clubs, then Play and Rush. In the lobby, select Start Search.
- Manager Career: Open Academy, choose Youth Tournament, and select Enter Tournament.
- Kick-Off: Select the Rush tab, then choose Play.
In Ultimate Team and Clubs, you can invite up to three other players. The game fills any open team positions. EA says matchmaking uses Match Rating, which reflects contributions to team efforts rather than individual achievements alone.

How long is a Rush match?
Regulation play is one continuous seven-minute countdown with no half-time. The clock pauses while the ball is out of play. If the score is tied at the end, teams play 2 minutes and 20 seconds of Golden Goal extra time; if the match is still level, it goes to 1-on-1 penalty shootouts.
The Buzzer Beater rule allows a shot already in flight when time reaches zero to continue until the play is resolved. A penalty awarded in the final seconds can also receive a brief time extension. These rules are described in EA’s Rush Deep Dive.

How do the Rush pitch, offside and blue-card rules work?
Pitch and offside
EA gives the Rush pitch dimensions as 63.7 by 46.6 metres—about 41.5% of the area of a traditional 11v11 pitch. It has a more square shape, a proportionately larger penalty area and halfway circle, and goalposts the same size as those used in 11v11. Dotted lines divide the pitch into thirds and mark where offside begins to apply.
A player can attempt a shot after crossing their own defensive offside line. A shot attempt made from before that line results in a clearance. See EA’s pitch and gameplay explanation for the rule details.

Blue cards
Rush does not use red cards. A serious foul or denial of a goal-scoring opportunity can earn a blue card, which sidelines the player for one minute. The timer pauses during stoppages and is reduced by 15 seconds for each goal the player’s team concedes while they are sidelined.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does Rush progression differ by mode?
Rush is integrated into each mode’s own progression rather than using one shared reward track. In Ultimate Team, Rush Points count toward weekly objectives, and squad-building challenges may provide additional points or bonuses. In Clubs, players earn Rush Points toward individual rank, while wins add Victory Points to their Club’s total. The modes also differ in whether you bring or control an individual player or participate in controlling the team.
