There is no reliable published average age for all Rocket League players. The figures available describe particular groups—such as esports subreddit respondents or players at one professional tournament—not the game’s full player base.
Why there isn’t a reliable all-player average
“Rocket League players” could mean everyone who has ever played, people active during a specific period, ranked competitors, survey respondents, esports viewers, or professional players. Those groups are not interchangeable, and a figure drawn from one cannot be treated as the average age of all players.

The available surveys also rely on people choosing to respond, while a professional tournament roster is a small, highly selected group. The sources reviewed do not establish a representative, current age distribution for Rocket League’s full player base. The official Season 23 rundown reports gameplay and rank information, but no player-age breakdown. That does not establish whether Epic or Psyonix has unpublished internal demographic data.

The 2024 esports subreddit census
The census reported a median respondent age of 25/26. Its age brackets were 1.6% age 15 and under, 12.9% ages 16–18, 18.5% ages 19–22, 22.2% ages 23–26, 19.4% ages 27–30, and 25.4% age 31 or older. Moderators noted that the 2024 census received 249 responses, down from 763 in 2023, and cautioned that the smaller sample could be misleading. These results represent people who responded to a specific esports subreddit census, not a representative cross-platform sample. See the census results.

The 2025 RLCS Raleigh Major roster
Esports Charts reports an average age of 20.5 for the 53 players at the RLCS 2025 Raleigh Major, excluding coaches. That is a tournament-roster statistic: it describes those competitors at that event, not casual players or the full ranked population.
The 2020 multi-game survey
A 2020 PLOS ONE study reported a mean age of 20.9 years for its combined sample of 1,835 respondents across five esports. Although 598 respondents played Rocket League, 20.9 is not a Rocket League-only result. The survey was self-selected and skewed toward experienced players, so its overall mean should not be relabeled as the average age of Rocket League players.

Why these numbers cannot be combined
- Different populations: a subreddit census, a professional tournament roster, and a multi-game survey each cover different people.
- Different statistics: the census reports a median, while the tournament page and study report means. A median is the midpoint of an ordered set; a mean is the arithmetic average.
- Different collection periods: the figures come from a 2024 community census, a 2025 tournament, and a study published in 2020.
- Different selection effects: voluntary respondents and professional competitors are not a random sample of everyone who plays.
For these reasons, comparing the numbers can provide context about particular communities and competitive events, but it cannot produce a defensible all-player average.

No. An eligibility minimum says who may enter a competition, not how old players typically are. A historical official RLCS FAQ said Season 1 competition was open to players aged 15 and older; that old rule does not establish the average age and should not be read as a statement of current eligibility. The historical RLCS FAQ is relevant only to that past competition rule.
