It is a Mini-Turbo-focused setup supported by Dry Bones-specific community advice and current part-stat data—not a proven fastest combo or a universal best for every player and track.
The recommended Dry Bones combo
| Part | Recommendation | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Character | Dry Bones | His listed profile has high Acceleration and Handling, alongside low Speed and Weight relative to heavier character groups. |
| Body | Mr. Scooty | Nintendo Life lists +0.75 Mini-Turbo, along with +0.75 Acceleration and +0.5 Handling. |
| Tires | Roller | Nintendo Life lists +0.75 Mini-Turbo and +0.5 Acceleration; Roller also adds +0.25 Handling and subtracts 0.5 Weight. |
| Glider | Cloud Glider | This is the glider named in the Dry Bones-specific community recommendation. The cited stat guide does not establish it as a performance winner. |
The exact combination was recommended in a player discussion posted August 28–29, 2024. The part contributions above come from Nintendo Life’s guide, published September 2, 2026. Together, they support describing the setup as a Mini-Turbo-oriented choice, not claiming it wins more races or is objectively fastest. Read the Dry Bones discussion; see Nintendo Life’s stat guide.
Why this setup suits a drift-focused racer
Dry Bones shares the following listed character profile with Baby Mario and Baby Luigi: Speed 2.75, Acceleration 4.25, Weight 2.25, Handling 4.5, Traction/Grip 4, and Mini-Turbo 4. These figures are from Nintendo Life’s 2026 guide. Mr. Scooty and Roller each add +0.75 Mini-Turbo, while also favoring acceleration and handling. Roller’s −0.5 Weight contribution reinforces the build’s control-and-boost emphasis rather than adding collision heft.
Mini-Turbo is a hidden stat that affects the length and speed of drift boosts and jump boosts, according to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Combo Builder. That makes the combination a reasonable pick for someone who actively uses drifts and jump boosts. It does not mean every player should maximize Mini-Turbo: a racer who prioritizes baseline top speed or collision weight may prefer a different balance.

What to weigh before choosing it
- Speed: affects top speed. Dry Bones’s listed Speed is 2.75, so this recommendation is not a speed-first build.
- Acceleration: affects how quickly a racer reaches top speed. Dry Bones’s listed Acceleration is 4.25, and the two recommended parts add acceleration.
- Weight: influences collisions. Dry Bones’s listed Weight is 2.25, and Roller lowers it by 0.5.
- Handling: affects turning sharpness; Nintendo Life lists Dry Bones at 4.5 and Mr. Scooty at +0.5 Handling.
- Traction/Grip: affects movement on surfaces such as sand, snow, and ice. Track surface can change how relevant this stat is.
- Mini-Turbo: affects drift-boost and jump-boost performance, making it central to this build’s purpose.
The listed character and part figures are stat contributions, not a race-win percentage. Nintendo Life explains that the final stats combine character and selected parts, and that track surfaces can affect some stats. Nintendo’s beginner guide describes the component roles: bodies set basic stats, tires affect speed and handling, and gliders adjust acceleration and weight. See Nintendo’s vehicle-component guidance.
How to choose an alternative
The available evidence does not establish a Dry Bones-specific alternative as objectively superior. If this setup feels too slow or too light for your priorities, compare other bodies and tires using the game’s stat display or a combo calculator; change the build to address the stat you care about rather than treating another character’s popular combination as a Dry Bones recommendation. A build described for a Yoshi-class character is not evidence of the best Dry Bones setup.

There is no one combo established as best for every player or course. The recommendation is best understood as a specific answer to a specific preference: Dry Bones plus a Mini-Turbo-oriented, nimble setup. The community recommendation is player guidance, and the cited sources do not provide a named performance study showing that Dry Bones or this combination wins more often than alternatives.
