There is no single horse armor set that can be called the best for every Black Desert Online player from the available official guidance. Pearl Abyss recommends choosing gear for the horse stats you want and checking current item details in-game; its guide does not provide a complete, up-to-date comparison that establishes one universal winner.
How to choose the best horse gear for your horse
Black Desert Online’s official guide treats horse armor as horse gear: a five-piece set that increases horse stats, with some pieces also required for certain skills. Compare the current item details for the stat you want to improve, then factor in gear grade, enhancement level, cost, and availability on your platform and in your region. The guide names Shabby, Light, Battle, Storm, Granverre, and Fighting Spirit gear, but does not supply enough current set-by-set data to rank them reliably.
Pearl Abyss distinguishes basic Stable Keeper gear from better-stat options, which it says players can craft or purchase through the in-game Central Market. Market stock and prices are dynamic, so inspect the listings available to your character rather than relying on a fixed price or assumed availability.
Where to get horse armor
- Basic gear: Buy it from a Stable Keeper NPC.
- Better-stat options: Craft gear or purchase it through the in-game Central Market, as described in the Pearl Abyss Adventurer’s Guide.
- Storm, green-grade, or Fighting Spirit gear: The guide lists specified Golden Seal exchanges as possible acquisition routes; check the relevant exchange options in-game.
- Granverre gear: Craft it at the Horse Gear Workshop at Stonetail Horse Ranch.
Enhancement and changing item details
Pearl Abyss’s guide says horse gear can be enhanced up to +10. It does not provide current item-by-item enhancement costs or success rates, so check the in-game enhancement interface before committing resources.

#1 Best Overall
- Durable nylon outer shell
- Two zipper compartments
- 1 mesh pocket
- 1 solid pocket
- 2 insulated water bottle holders
Gear details can change with updates. A Pearl Abyss Console update notice records changes to green-grade horse gear and stats added to the unified Storm Horse Gear Set. That notice is evidence that gear information is update-sensitive, not a current ranking for every set or platform.

A practical comparison before you buy or craft
- Open the relevant horse gear item details in-game and identify the stat or skill requirement you care about.
- Compare the candidate pieces at the grade and enhancement level you can realistically obtain; do not compare an enhanced item against a base item as though the set alone explains the difference.
- Check the Central Market and relevant crafting or exchange routes on your platform and region for present availability and cost.
- Choose the option that meets your goal and budget. Without a complete current comparison of the relevant item stats, declaring a universal best set would be misleading.
