In Minecraft, the “cheat code” for finding a woodland mansion is a command: use /locate structure minecraft:mansion in current Java Edition or /locate structure mansion in Bedrock Edition. The command returns coordinates; to go there, use /teleport with those coordinates.
Use the command for your edition
| Edition | Command | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Java Edition | /locate structure minecraft:mansion |
Finds the nearest matching mansion in the current dimension and returns its coordinates. |
| Bedrock Edition | /locate structure mansion |
Finds the nearest matching mansion in the current dimension and returns its coordinates. |
The woodland mansion is a structure found in dark forest biomes. The mansion-specific command examples differ by edition, so use the row that matches your game.
How to find and reach the mansion
- Open the in-game chat and enter the command for your edition.
- If the game says you cannot use the command, enable commands or cheats in your single-player world settings. On Bedrock, the setting is Settings → Game → Allow Cheats. On a multiplayer server, you need sufficient permission from the server.
- Read the coordinates returned by
/locate, then enter/teleportfollowed by those coordinates./locatefinds the structure; it does not create or summon one. Minecraft’s official command guide explains that locate returns coordinates and describes teleporting to a location.
What to know before enabling cheats
In Bedrock single-player, enabling cheats permanently stops achievement unlocking in that world—even if cheats are later turned off. This warning is stated in Minecraft’s official commands guide. Consider that consequence before changing the world setting.
Why older mansion commands may not work
Older guides may show /locate mansion. Minecraft’s locate syntax changed over time: Java moved to the /locate structure form in 1.19 snapshots, and Java 1.18.2 release notes describe the namespaced structure parameter. See the Java snapshot notes and Java 1.18.2 notes. If a command is rejected, check that it matches your edition and game version; not every older version uses today’s syntax.
