In Bedrock Edition, /effect @s speed 60 2 applies the Speed status effect, but Microsoft’s command reference does not say that it changes flight speed. To fly, switch to Creative mode with /gamemode creative; that changes your game mode, not your flight-speed multiplier.
Does the Speed effect make you fly faster?
Not according to the official Bedrock command documentation. The command /effect @s speed 60 2 applies the Speed effect to you for 60 seconds at amplifier 2. The reference describes it as a status effect command; it does not identify it as a way to increase creative flight speed. See Microsoft’s Bedrock /effect command reference.
How do you fly in Minecraft?
In Bedrock Edition, use /gamemode creative to switch to Creative mode. The command requires cheats, and it enables the game mode in which players can fly; it is not a flight-speed command. Microsoft documents the syntax in its Bedrock /gamemode reference.
How to enable Bedrock cheats
- Open the world’s settings and go to the Game tab.
- Enable cheats, then enter the command in chat.
Minecraft’s commands guide says that enabling cheats in a Bedrock single-player world permanently disables achievements for that world, even if you later turn cheats off. Commands can also require the appropriate permissions. Java Edition has its own command-permission flow, so do not assume Bedrock instructions or consequences apply identically.

What about the flying-speed attribute?
Microsoft documents minecraft:flying_speed as an entity component, not a player flight-speed cheat. Its Bedrock documentation gives a default of 0.02 blocks per tick and examples for entities including the Allay (0.1) and Ender Dragon (0.6); those examples are not player values. See the entity component documentation.
Java Edition 1.21.6 release notes say the flying-speed attribute also applies to Ghasts and Happy Ghasts. That note does not establish a command for changing a player’s Creative flight speed. Minecraft’s 1.21.6 release notes are specific to that Java version.

Need to get somewhere faster?
Bedrock’s /tp command, also called /teleport, moves an entity to a location. It can be a shortcut to a destination, but it teleports you rather than increasing your flying speed. See Microsoft’s Bedrock popular commands guide.
