For standard avatar bodies, Roblox’s documented maximum height is 9.5 studs for Normal and Slender scales and 9.1 studs for Classic. A Roblox place file has a separate 100 MB limit. Creators can also set a height range for player avatars in their experience.
How tall can a standard Roblox avatar be?
Roblox publishes maximum body dimensions for three character scales. These are body-scale specifications, not universal limits on every visible part of an avatar.
| Body scale | Maximum dimensions (width × height × depth) | Maximum height |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 8.6 × 9.5 × 2.25 studs | 9.5 studs |
| Slender | 6 × 9.5 × 2 studs | 9.5 studs |
| Classic | 8 × 9.1 × 2 studs | 9.1 studs |
Roblox says it supports three standards of character body scales: Normal, Slender, and Classic. The standards help keep body sizes consistent for movement and interactions. The Creator Hub’s Character body specifications page does not display a publication date.
These figures describe the body scales; accessories, clothing, experience settings, and other geometry follow separate rules. So 9.5 studs is the tallest listed standard body scale, not a guarantee that every visible avatar object must fit within that height.

Can an experience limit player avatar height?
Yes. In Roblox Studio, Avatar Settings includes a Custom Scale option that lets a creator define an avatar height range in studs. The engine’s HumanoidDescription reference explains that CustomScale clamps a character to the configured CustomHeight range. PlayerChoice instead leaves the avatar at its natural height.
If a character appears unexpectedly large or small in an experience, check the experience’s Avatar Settings and scale mode. Use the preview and playtest the setting in Studio before publishing; Roblox advises testing because avatar settings can be difficult to debug.

What is the maximum Roblox place-file size?
A Roblox place can be up to 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes), according to the Creator Hub’s place files documentation. Saving or publishing may fail if the place exceeds that limit.
To estimate the upload size, export the place as a binary .rbxl file. Roblox notes that the data uploaded by Studio is slightly smaller than the file-format size, so the exported file is a useful estimate rather than an exact match.

How to reduce a place that is near the limit
- Look for redundant parts and assets that can be removed.
- Simplify terrain where possible.
- If reducing the file is not enough, consider splitting the experience across multiple places connected by teleports.
Other Roblox limits called “size”
Avatar height and place-file size are different measurements. Other Roblox systems have their own constraints. For example, UI size constraints use pixel dimensions, while a data-store key value has a separate maximum of 4,194,304 characters, as documented in the Creator Hub’s data stores documentation. That character limit is not an avatar or place-file limit.
