Bethesda’s June 2, 2026 radiation rebalance lists several kinds of locations at a radiation magnitude of 75, but it does not rank individual spots or name one overall winner. Emmett Mountain’s side tunnel is a documented hotspot, but its often-cited figure is older and is not confirmed as the current maximum.
What the current official information says
Bethesda’s June 2, 2026 Fallout 76: Infestations release notes describe a broad environmental radiation rebalance. Some effects that were previously 40 were raised to 75. The notes name parts of Project Paradise, Atlantic City, West Tek, the Ash Heap, Federal Disposal Field HZ-21, and various locations with radioactive-waste barrels. They also list nuclear fallout outside Burning Springs at 75.
Those are grouped categories, not a location-by-location leaderboard. The notes do not establish whether one barrel, room, or patch of ground is more radioactive than another, so the defensible answer is that several places or conditions share the highest magnitude specified in the notes—not that one named site has been proved the winner.
How the main candidates differ
| Candidate | What is established | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Nuclear fallout outside Burning Springs | Bethesda lists its radiation magnitude as 75 in the June 2, 2026 notes. | The notes do not rank fallout against individual fixed locations. |
| Project Paradise, Atlantic City, West Tek, Ash Heap, and Federal Disposal Field HZ-21 | Bethesda includes parts of these areas among environmental effects raised to 75. | The notes do not identify the exact highest point within each area or compare the areas with one another. |
| Radioactive-waste-barrel locations | Bethesda includes various barrel locations in the 75-magnitude group. | No complete list or individual-site ranking is provided. |
| Emmett Mountain side tunnel | A Fallout Wiki reference reports an older +54 rads per second in a barrel area beyond a breach. | That secondary figure is not verified after the 2026 rebalance and cannot establish the current maximum. |
Why Emmett Mountain is still worth knowing
Emmett Mountain Disposal Site is a useful named example if you want to encounter radiation-focused gameplay. A Fallout Wiki location reference describes radioactive barrels, an interior mine, possible hazmat suit spawns, and the Radiation Rumble event. Its side tunnel has also been associated with a strong barrel hotspot. These details make it a relevant destination, but they do not prove it is more radioactive than every location in Bethesda’s 75-magnitude groups.

Other dangerous radiation locations
The Cranberry Rad Hole at Firebase LT is described as a deadly radiation spot in the Fallout 76 Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide: Atlas of Appalachia excerpt. Cranberry Bog is also characterized there as dangerous. That makes it another candidate for players seeking high-radiation areas, not evidence of a current record.
Radiation resistance and survivability
Bethesda says that Radiation resistance in the 1,500–2,500 range will dramatically reduce incoming exposure from heavier environmental sources such as Nuke Zones. The notes also clarify that this is not a hard threshold: additional resistance continues to reduce the effect. This is in-game guidance, not a promise that any high-radiation location becomes harmless.

How to interpret a “most radioactive” claim
A precise ranking would need to compare the same kind of measurement under consistent conditions. Ambient exposure, barrel hotspots, irradiated water, event hazards, and temporary nuclear fallout are not automatically interchangeable. Bethesda’s published figures group locations and conditions rather than supplying a complete site-by-site test, so a claim that one named spot is definitively the highest goes beyond the available official information.
