The penguin’s favorite foods in Heartopia are Sardine, Common Prawn, and False Scad. Some community guides call Common Prawn “Common Shrimp”; they refer to the same listed favorite. The penguin is a limited-time Winter Frost animal, and current community listings say it is unavailable now that the event has ended.
Which foods does the penguin like best?
- Sardine
- Common Prawn, also called Common Shrimp in some guides
- False Scad
These are in-game seafood items obtained through Heartopia’s fishing system—not real-world food. Community references agree on the three-item list, though they are not official developer documentation. Heartopia.live notes that its community-collected data may be incomplete or inaccurate, and Heartodex identifies itself as unofficial.
Can you feed the penguin now?
The penguin is described by community guides as a limited-time animal associated with the Winter Frost event. Heartodex currently lists it as unavailable because that event ended, while Heartopia.live also marks it limited-time. These listings do not establish whether or when the event will return, or whether availability varies by region.
Guides place the penguin around Old Sea and the concert portal/Winter area; one describes a feeding trough between the igloo and concert entrance. Those are historical event directions, not confirmation that the penguin or trough is accessible in the current game.

How should you choose a food to gather?
Use whichever of the three fish you already have, or can catch most conveniently. One community guide describes Sardine as the easiest option, but that is guide advice rather than an official recommendation or independently verified comparison. Fishing locations and level requirements listed in community guides may change with game updates, so treat detailed spawn instructions as version-sensitive.
Community guides say feeding a favorite improves bonding, but the references do not establish a reliable current bond-point amount. No exact bonus can be confirmed from the available listings.
