Surge of Fish is an in-game fishing event in Once Human. Players fish at a designated event location for rare catches that can be exchanged for special rewards from a merchant. In a later update, the game added a Disturbance mechanic: fishing in the event zone builds Disturbance, and reaching an unspecified threshold upgrades the surge to attract rarer fish.
How the event works
The official April 2024 update introduced Surge of Fish as a Party Event. Its basic loop is to travel to the designated location, fish for a chance to catch rare fish, then exchange those catches for special merchant rewards. The announcement does not specify a fixed location or schedule.
Version 1.3, announced October 15, 2024, added Disturbance. Fishing in the event zone accumulates it; once it reaches a certain amount, the surge upgrades to a higher quality and draws rarer fish. The announcement does not publish a numeric threshold. Once Human Version 1.3 Update Announcement
In its November 6, 2024 Version 1.3.1 announcement, the game called Surge of Fish a Public Crisis Event and listed a fix for overly bright event effects. Once Human Version 1.3.1 Update Announcement

Where do you turn in the event fish?
The official description says rare event fish can be exchanged for special rewards at a merchant. A Steam discussion’s accepted answer points players to Margerie’s wares, where fish are used to buy items rather than sold directly in that interaction. Check the event merchant’s fish-priced stock in game; reports about selling fish to settlement vendors conflict, so they do not establish a universal sale rule. Steam discussion about where to sell event fish
Is the event active, and how do you complete it?
The cited update announcements document past mechanics, not the current event schedule, live location, eligibility, or exact completion conditions. Check the in-game Events interface or current official announcements for availability. A player discussion asks whether the full 30-minute event must be completed, but replies are anecdotal and do not establish an official requirement for time, tier, score, or a boss.
