For Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red’s June 2023 requirements set the minimum target at 1080p on low settings and an average 30 FPS, and the recommended non-ray-tracing target at 1080p on high settings and 60 FPS. The game requires an SSD under Update 2.0. Ray tracing and Overdrive have separate, higher hardware targets. These are developer expectations based on internal testing, not guaranteed results for every PC.
Cyberpunk 2077 PC requirements at a glance
CD Projekt Red says the requirements below apply to Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty. The figures are targets in the publisher’s requirements update from June 11, 2023; actual performance can vary with hardware, software, settings, and output resolution. CD Projekt Red’s requirements announcement says its FPS data is based on internal testing.

The Overdrive target’s 60 FPS figure was measured with DLSS Frame Generation enabled. It is not a promise of 60 FPS at native rendering. The ray-tracing rows are distinct targets, so the standard recommended GPU tier should not be treated as sufficient for every ray-tracing setting.
Do you need an SSD for Cyberpunk 2077?
Yes. Update 2.0 made the revised requirements effective and states that an SSD is required. CD Projekt Red advises against HDD use because its lower bandwidth may prevent new content from streaming properly. The requirements list 70 GB of capacity in every tier; the higher tiers specify NVMe storage. The Update 2.0 notes also explain that older configurations may still run the game, but are no longer actively supported or tested under the revised requirements.

How to judge whether your PC meets the target
Choose the target experience first, then compare every major component against that row. A graphics-card model by itself does not establish a guaranteed frame rate, and a GPU upgrade cannot resolve a limitation elsewhere in the system.
- Resolution and settings: Match the target resolution and preset you intend to use; 1080p low and 2160p are very different workloads.
- Frame-rate goal: Treat 30 or 60 FPS as the developer’s expected target for its listed configuration, not a guarantee for a different PC.
- Ray tracing: Use the separate ray-tracing tier rather than assuming the non-ray-tracing recommendation also covers it.
- Whole-system fit: Check CPU, graphics card, VRAM, system RAM, and SSD capacity together. The listed cards are reference examples, not a current ranking of equivalent hardware.
Update 2.0 added DLSS 3.5 support, including Ray Reconstruction. The patch notes say Ray Reconstruction requires a GeForce RTX card and Path Tracing enabled. This feature requirement is separate from the Overdrive FPS caveat above.

What about similar open-world games?
There is no single PC specification that applies to all open-world games. Requirements vary by game, update, resolution, graphics settings, and frame-rate goal. These Cyberpunk 2077 examples cannot establish whether a particular PC meets another game’s requirements or how a newer GPU compares. For another title, check its current official requirements and independent benchmarks for the settings and resolution you plan to use.
