The best-supported public answer is OBS Studio. In a Twitch stream with Kevin Hart, Kai Cenat reportedly pointed to OBS and said, “Okay look, this is OBS, this is where everything is running, okay?” That supports OBS as his main documented streaming software, but it does not establish every tool he uses across streams or behind the scenes.
What the public evidence says about Kai’s setup
StreamYard’s report reproduces Kai’s on-air statement and identifies OBS as the core of his setup. The report is secondary coverage rather than the original stream recording, so it is strongest as evidence that he publicly identified OBS—not as a complete equipment or software inventory.
There is no authoritative public list in the available sources of every program in Kai’s production stack. It would therefore be too strong to claim that OBS is the only software he uses, or that another product is never part of his workflow.
Does Kai Cenat use OBS or Streamlabs?
OBS Studio is the best-supported answer for his main documented software. The available sources do not confirm that Streamlabs Desktop is part of his regular setup.

The products can be used in related ways: Streamlabs describes its desktop application as built on the OBS engine and offers a separate plugin that brings some Streamlabs tools, including alerts and widgets, into OBS. Those product descriptions explain how the software relates; they are not evidence that Kai uses either Streamlabs product.
What was used at Streamer University’s opening?
A transcript of the Streamer University 2026 opening ceremony describes a specific event-production workflow involving TVU Go on a phone, IRL Toolkit as a control center and video switcher, Cloud OBS, and a desktop OBS feed. It describes switching between the TVU Go and desktop OBS feeds without ending the stream.

That is evidence about this particular event, not proof that Kai uses the same combination for his regular streams. Event production can involve a more complex handoff than a creator’s everyday desktop setup.
What OBS means for someone building a similar setup
OBS Studio is free, open-source software distributed under GPLv2, according to the project. OBS says its official download has no watermark or usage restrictions and advises downloading it from obsproject.com. Its documentation also notes that unstable internet or a bitrate higher than the connection can sustain may cause dropped frames.

If you are choosing software for your own stream, start with the workflow rather than assuming you need a famous streamer’s exact setup:
- Desktop gameplay: Consider whether you need scene and production controls for gameplay, overlays, and other sources.
- Mobile or IRL streaming: Check whether your workflow needs a phone-to-desktop handoff or the ability to switch sources while staying live.
- Console streaming: A capture device may be needed to bring a console’s video into a computer-based setup. Streamlabs’ console guide discusses capture devices as an option, but no particular model is established for Kai.
- Alerts and widgets: Compare built-in tools and plugins against what you actually plan to show on stream. A product’s available features do not establish that Kai uses them.
What to do if OBS drops frames
OBS identifies an unstable connection and an unsustainable bitrate as issues to check when frames are dropping. Start by checking that your internet connection is stable and that the stream bitrate is within what it can reliably sustain; the available sources do not establish Kai’s personal settings.
