No: the reported comments do not confirm that Half-Life 3 is currently in development or will be released. VICE reported on April 15, 2025, that Valve concept artist Evgeniy Evstratiy said he had been in a room associated with the game, but had not seen its development. He also reportedly said he did not know whether work was still active.
What did the Valve artist reportedly say?
In a Russian-language podcast interview, Evgeniy Evstratiy described being in a room where Half-Life 3 was being made. VICE published a rough translation of his remarks, including: “I was in the room where they make Half-Life 3. However, I didn’t see the actual development itself; I just saw the office, the computers, the whiteboards.” VICE identified Evstratiy as a Valve concept artist and published its account on April 15, 2025. The distinction matters: according to VICE’s translation, Evstratiy saw a room and its contents, not development work itself. He reportedly said previous attempts had been made and expressed uncertainty about whether the project was still active or would ever be made or released.
Does this confirm Half-Life 3 is real or in development?
It is a reported account from someone identified as a Valve artist, but it is not confirmation of a current project, a release plan, or a launch date. The comments as translated by VICE do not establish that development is ongoing. “Confirmed Half-Life 3” and “Half-Life 3 leaks” are therefore stronger descriptions than the evidence supports.

VICE places the rumor in the context of Half-Life 2 and Half-Life: Alyx, the series’ 2020 VR entry. Those games are useful background, but neither is evidence that Half-Life 3 has been announced.
