If you only received the unauthorised ASOS push notification, ASOS’s current advice is to ignore it and not click its external link; the company is not currently asking customers to change passwords. That notification alone does not show that your individual shopping account was taken over. If you see unfamiliar orders, changed account details or suspicious payment activity, take the account-specific steps below.
First, tell the notification apart from account takeover
In its October 6, 2026 notice, ASOS Customer Care says some customers received an unauthorised push notification linked to activity involving third-party platforms ASOS uses to communicate with customers. ASOS says basic personal information, including names and contact details, may have been accessed, but it does not believe account passwords or payment-card information were affected. This is ASOS’s preliminary assessment, not a guarantee about every customer’s individual account.

The notice does not establish that ASOS’s shopping account system or a Snowflake instance was hacked. A threatening message that mentions a technology platform is not proof of a breach of that platform or of your login credentials.
If you only received the push notification
ASOS’s October 6 notice says: “We are not currently asking customers to change their ASOS account password or take any other action.” It also instructs customers to disregard the unauthorised notification and not click or engage with the external third-party link it contained. Follow that advice if you have no separate sign of account misuse.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) likewise says in its October 6, 2026 incident guidance: “Do not click on any suspicious links, including those you receive in push notifications, or via emails or messages.” If you already opened the link, do not enter details or download anything from it; if you submitted a password, change it using ASOS’s official website or app and change any other account password that reused it.
If you see signs your ASOS account was accessed
Check orders and account details
- Open ASOS directly. Type the website address yourself or launch the official app instead of following a link in a message.
- Review recent orders and your account details. Check your email address, delivery addresses and saved payment methods for changes you did not make.
- Recover access through official support if needed. If you cannot sign in or find unfamiliar changes, use the ASOS Help and account recovery options.
Change exposed or reused passwords
If you find evidence of unauthorised access—or entered your password on a suspicious page—change your ASOS password and any other account password that used the same one, especially your email password. ASOS’s account guidance says a new ASOS password must be 10–100 characters and different from your last password. Use a unique password for every account; the NCSC’s password guidance recommends strong, separate passwords. Enable two-step verification on services that offer it.

If you see an unfamiliar ASOS charge
Check your bank or card statement and contact the card issuer or bank about transactions you do not recognise. Before treating an ASOS-branded transaction as fraud, ASOS advises checking whether it could be a Premier subscription, an order made by someone with access to the card, another card associated with the account, or a pending charge after a cancelled order.
For a suspected unauthorised ASOS transaction, contact ASOS through its official Help pages. ASOS asks customers to provide the transaction date, time, amount and currency, plus the card’s last four digits. Do not send a full card number or screenshots of bank accounts through email or chat. If you lost money in the UK, use the NCSC incident page’s link to the current Stop! Think Fraud reporting guidance.

Watch for follow-up phishing and impersonation
Be wary of unexpected emails, texts, push notifications or direct messages that claim your account is compromised and demand an urgent reset. Reach ASOS through its official website or verified social account, not through a link in the message. ASOS says it will never ask for passwords or card details through social-media direct messages, and warns customers not to post card details publicly. Check statements regularly and report unrecognised payments to your payment provider.
