There is no official global player total for Astro Bot in the sources cited here. Third-party gameplay and trophy data nevertheless point to substantial activity: TrueTrophies ranked its PS5 launch among the strongest single-player debuts of 2024 at the time, while a trophy tracker recorded tens of thousands of profiles earning trophies. Neither measure is a count of everyone who has played the game.
Is there an official Astro Bot player count?
Sony’s official materials identify Astro Bot as a PS5 game released on September 6, 2024, but do not give a current total of players. The PlayStation Store listing describes the game, not its audience: PlayStation Store: Astro Bot. The launch announcement likewise provides no player total: Sony Interactive Entertainment launch announcement.

“Player count” can mean unique purchasers, accounts that have launched the game, people active during a particular week, or profiles that earned a trophy. Those are different measures. The available figures below describe samples or tracker users, not a verified number of unique people worldwide.
What third-party data says about Astro Bot’s popularity
Its launch ranked strongly in a sampled comparison
In an analysis published September 13, 2024, TrueTrophies said Astro Bot had the sixth-largest PS5 single-player debut of 2024 so far. The ranking was based on gameplay data from more than 3.1 million active PSN accounts covered through the outlet’s GameInsights partnership. That 3.1-million figure is the size of the data sample, not the number of Astro Bot players. The ranking is time-bounded and applies to the comparison set and methodology used by TrueTrophies; it is not a Sony census or a lifetime sales ranking. TrueTrophies’ launch analysis.

A trophy tracker shows substantial participation among its users
On October 8, 2026, PSN Trophy Leaders displayed 123,049 tracked Astro Bot profiles. Of those, 114,033 had earned the first-rescue trophy and 73,656 had earned the platinum. These are dynamic counts of profiles tracked by that site and the trophy awards it observed—not official PlayStation totals, copies sold, or a proven representative sample of all players. A reported activity bump followed in December 2024
TrueTrophies reported that its measured Astro Bot player count rose 76% week over week for the week ending December 15, 2024. The outlet associated the rise with the free Winter Wonder DLC and the game’s recognition at The Game Awards, but its report does not establish either as the cause. This is a change in the outlet’s activity metric for that week, not a cumulative player total or evidence of a lasting increase. TrueTrophies’ December 2024 activity report.

How to interpret these numbers
- Launch ranking: Useful for comparing the game’s sampled debut with other PS5 single-player releases in the same period. It does not establish sales or a total audience.
- Tracked trophy profiles: Evidence that many users on one trophy-tracking site participated. Tracker users are not established as a random or representative sample.
- Weekly change: Shows a reported increase in activity during a defined week. It does not reveal the number of unique players over the game’s lifetime or prove what drove the increase.
Comparisons are meaningful only when they use the same platform, time window, population, and metric. A sampled launch comparison should not be set beside lifetime trophy profiles or weekly active-player changes as if all three measured the same thing. Trophy completion rates also should not be converted into copies sold or unique players without a known denominator and a defensible method.

The audience signals are consistent with a widely noticed PS5 release, but they do not quantify its complete audience. Sony’s product description says the game spans more than 50 planets; Team Asobi studio head Nicolas Doucet described six galaxies and over 80 levels in the official reveal.
