Pathea Games said it was targeting “future Nintendo platforms yet to be announced”; BGR interpreted that as a hint about Nintendo’s then-unannounced console. Nintendo later named Mario Kart World as a Switch 2 launch game.
Why My Time at Evershine was called the first Switch 2 game
On September 17, 2024, BGR reported My Time at Evershine as the first new game confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2. The basis was Pathea Games’ statement that the game would come to “future Nintendo platforms yet to be announced.” BGR’s September 2024 report also acknowledged that Nintendo had not announced Switch 2 and that it was not known whether Nintendo had approved development for that specific system.

So the wording was an early platform hint, not a direct confirmation naming Switch 2. My Time at Evershine is Pathea’s next My Time game; its Kickstarter project page describes it as the series’ third game and a sandbox simulation RPG.
What Nintendo later confirmed
Nintendo announced Switch 2 on January 16, 2025, describing it as the successor to Nintendo Switch. The announcement did not name a game in its release text. Nintendo’s announcement established the console, not Evershine’s status on it.

On April 2, 2025, Nintendo announced that Switch 2 would launch June 5, 2025. Its U.S. announcement named Mario Kart World as a new game for the system and said it would be available on launch day. Nintendo’s U.S. launch announcement is the clear official confirmation of a named Switch 2 launch game. The system and Mario Kart World launched on June 5; Nintendo later reported more than 3.5 million Switch 2 units sold worldwide during the first four days after release, its highest global first-four-day sales for any Nintendo hardware. Nintendo’s June 11 sales report gives that figure and timeframe.
Is My Time at Evershine confirmed for Switch 2 now?
The cited announcements establish no Switch 2 edition, release date, or current Switch 2 availability for My Time at Evershine. Pathea’s future-platform wording should not be treated as proof that the game can be bought or played on Switch 2. Check the game’s publisher or an official platform listing for a title-specific update.

What Switch 2’s launch announcement said about the system
Nintendo of America’s April 2, 2025 announcement lists a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen, 256 GB of internal storage, and expansion using microSD Express cards. The Joy-Con 2 controllers attach magnetically and can function as a mouse in compatible games. Docked output can reach 4K and up to 120 fps with compatible games and displays; those are system capabilities, not a promise that every game supports those settings. Nintendo also said the console plays compatible physical and digital games from the original Switch, while noting that some may be unsupported or not fully compatible. Check Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility information or ask the game publisher about a specific title.
In the launch announcement, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa described the system as “the next step in at-home gaming that can be taken on the go based on eight years of play and discovery that began with Nintendo Switch.” The announcement set a U.S. suggested retail price of $449.99 on April 2, 2025; that is a market- and date-specific figure, not a global price. Nintendo’s Japanese Switch 2 announcement lists separate Japan-specific pricing and bundle details.
