There’s no confirmed Pokémon canon answer. The closest official story involves a Shellder biting Slowpoke’s tail and triggering its evolution into Slowbro—not a Cloyster bite. Applying that story to Cloyster is playful speculation, not an established outcome.
What Pokémon canon says about the bite
The official Slowbro Pokédex entry says: “When a Slowpoke went hunting in the sea, its tail was bitten by a Shellder. That made it evolve into Slowbro.” This is the nearest lore parallel, but the Pokémon doing the biting is Shellder, not Cloyster.
The Slowbro entry also includes a separate version-specific description: “Shellder seems blissful over the taste of Slowbro even though the toxins seeping from the bite have caused Shellder to faint.” It describes toxins associated with that Shellder bite; it does not say that Cloyster biting Slowpoke would have the same effect.
What the Slowking story adds—and what it doesn’t
The official Slowking Pokédex entry gives a different account: “When its head was bitten, toxins entered Slowpoke’s head and unlocked an extraordinary power.” This is a separate Slowking lore explanation, not a definitive extension of the Slowbro tail-bite story. Neither entry names Cloyster as the biter.

So what might happen if Cloyster bit Slowpoke?
A writer could imagine a dangerous bite, or make a transformation joke based on the Shellder-and-Slowbro story. But the official entries do not establish that Cloyster’s bite would cause an evolution, introduce toxins, or produce any particular injury. The answer, as far as the cited canon goes, is simply unknown.
The distinction matters because the Pokédex documents Shellder’s role in these stories, not a shared effect for every Pokémon with a shell. Its entry describes Shellder’s clamping behavior and shell; those details are not evidence about Cloyster’s bite. The official Pokédex index lists Slowpoke as #79 and Cloyster as #91, but their numbering does not supply a bite outcome.

Canon versus speculation
- Established: A Shellder biting Slowpoke’s tail is part of the official Slowbro evolution story.
- Also established: Separate Slowbro and Slowking entries mention toxins in connection with bites.
- Not established: That Cloyster would trigger Slowpoke’s evolution or cause the same toxin-related effects.
These are fictional Pokédex accounts, not medical guidance or evidence about real-world animal bites.
