If cheats are enabled, the quickest method is to use /locate while you are in the Nether. It searches the current dimension for the nearest matching structure and returns its coordinates if one is found. If you want to keep cheats off, use a seed map if you know your world seed, or search the Nether by exploration.
Find a fortress with a command
Go to the Nether, open chat or the command interface, and run the fortress locate command supported by your edition and version. Bedrock’s official documentation says /locate searches the current dimension, requires cheats, and can find a fortress. If you are in the Overworld, the command searches there instead. Bedrock Edition
Bedrock documentation lists minecraft:fortress as a valid structure identifier, while its structure-type reference identifies fortress as the Nether fortress value. Syntax may vary with game version. If the command is rejected, use the in-game autocomplete or check the documentation for your version. Microsoft Learn: structure type
Java Edition
A third-party finder lists /locate structure minecraft:fortress for Java. Command syntax can change between versions, so treat that as a version-dependent form and use autocomplete if it does not work in your game. Minecraft Tools Nether Fortress Finder

Once the command returns coordinates, travel to that location in the Nether. The result is the nearest matching fortress it finds; it is not a teleport command.
Find a fortress without cheats
Use a seed map
If you know your world seed, an external seed map may help you locate a fortress without enabling cheats in the world. Enter the seed and select the correct edition and version where the tool offers those options. Map compatibility and results depend on the service and the world’s edition and version, so confirm that it supports your setup before relying on a location. Explore the Nether
Without commands or a usable seed map, exploration is the in-game option. Cover new areas systematically rather than repeatedly searching the same terrain. A bastion remnant is not a fortress: the Minecraft Wiki tutorial describes the structures as competing within regions, so after finding a bastion, try another region. The generation detail is edition- and version-sensitive; use this as a search hint, not a guarantee that every nearby area is fortress-free.
