Nintendo says Pokémon Bank will end on February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST. Bank-to-Pokémon HOME transfers end at the same time. If you want to keep Pokémon stored in Bank, move them to HOME before then; Nintendo has not announced a grace period. Nintendo’s end-of-service notice gives the deadline and migration guidance.
Can you still download Pokémon Bank?
No. Nintendo says Pokémon Bank must have been downloaded before March 27, 2023, to use it. The later change making use free did not make the app available for new downloads. Is Pokémon Bank free, and what do you need to transfer?
Bank’s free-use status does not mean every related service is free or available to new users. To transfer Pokémon from Bank to HOME, you need a Pokémon HOME Premium plan; HOME Basic does not include Bank transfers. Nintendo lists the distinction on its HOME Basic and Premium comparison. Check that page for current plan terms and pricing.
How to move Pokémon from Bank to HOME
If you can use Pokémon Bank on your 3DS
- Set up Pokémon HOME on the Nintendo Account you intend to use, and confirm that it has Premium.
- Open HOME and start the move from Pokémon Bank. HOME will display a Moving Key.
- Open Bank on the 3DS and enter the Moving Key. The key expires after three minutes, so have both apps ready before you generate it.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the transfer. Start well before the service deadline rather than relying on a last-minute move.

If you no longer have your 3DS
Nintendo says you may still transfer Pokémon into HOME using the Nintendo Network ID linked to Bank. Use Nintendo’s current Pokémon HOME FAQ instructions, and verify that you are using the Nintendo Network ID associated with the Bank data and the intended HOME account.
What changes when Pokémon move to HOME?
The transfer is one-way: Pokémon moved from Bank to HOME cannot be sent back to Bank or used with Nintendo 3DS games. Before you confirm, make sure HOME is set up on the account you want and that you are ready to leave those Pokémon there.
Moving a Pokémon into HOME also does not guarantee it can be sent to every later Pokémon game. Availability depends on game compatibility. Nintendo’s Bank and Poké Transporter compatibility guide lists supported titles and app-version requirements.
How older Pokémon games fit into the route
For certain older games, the path runs through Poké Transporter into Bank, then from Bank to HOME. Nintendo lists Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black Version 2, Pokémon White Version 2, and specified Virtual Console releases as Poké Transporter sources. The exact supported titles and version requirements are in Nintendo’s compatibility list; do not assume every game or Pokémon can follow this route.

What to check before February 25, 2027
- Confirm Bank is already installed and usable if you plan to transfer through a 3DS.
- Confirm the Nintendo Network ID linked to Bank, especially if you no longer have the 3DS.
- Set up HOME on the intended Nintendo Account and confirm Premium is active for the Bank transfer.
- Allow time to complete the move before 7:00 p.m. PST on February 25, 2027; Nintendo has announced no extension.
Nintendo previously announced the discontinuation of online services for 3DS and Wii U software, while Bank remained available until the later end date now specified in its Bank end-of-service notice.
