GameStop’s PS5 Pro preorder timing was reported as 9 a.m. Central on October 10, 2024, but that time appeared in a contemporaneous community post—not an official GameStop announcement. Sony’s official schedule set October 10 as the preorder date for remaining participating retailers. That window has passed: PS5 Pro launched on November 7, 2024.
What was the reported GameStop preorder time?
A GameStop community post reported that PS5 Pro preorders would go live at 9 a.m. Central on October 10, 2024. The post was not an official GameStop statement, so the time should be treated as a contemporaneous report rather than confirmed company guidance. It also did not establish whether it referred to online orders, in-store reservations, or both. Source: contemporaneous GameStop subreddit post.

What did Sony officially announce about preorder dates?
Sony announced the PS5 Pro on September 10, 2024, with a staggered preorder schedule. Preorders began September 26 through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers in territories where PlayStation Direct was unavailable. October 10 was the date for all other participating retailers. Sony’s schedule confirms the date, but it does not independently confirm GameStop’s reported 9 a.m. Central start time. Is the PS5 Pro preorder window still open?
No. The dates above were for the 2024 launch preorder period. Sony released the PS5 Pro on November 7, 2024, so they are not current preorder dates. For a purchase now, check a retailer’s live listing for current price and stock rather than relying on the historical preorder schedule. GameStop has a PS5 Pro console listing, but its displayed price and availability can change.

In its September 2024 announcement, Sony said the PS5 Pro GPU had 67% more Compute Units and memory that was 28% faster than the then-current PS5, enabling up to 45% faster rendering. Those figures were Sony’s stated comparisons; they are not independent measurements established here. Sony described the system as “our most advanced and innovative console hardware to date,” a launch-positioning statement by Hideaki Nishino, then identified as CEO, Platform Business Group at Sony Interactive Entertainment—not an independent assessment of performance.
