Light No Fire has no announced release date or confirmed platforms. Hello Games’ official press kit lists both as “TBC”; recent comments from co-founder Sean Murray explain the studio’s quiet approach to updates, but do not establish that launch is a long way off—or provide a release window.
Is Light No Fire’s release date confirmed?
No. As of October 8, 2026, Hello Games’ official press kit lists the release date as “TBC.” That means the kit does not state when the game will launch; it does not mean a particular year, or prove that release is distant.
The title “still a long way off” is therefore not an announced schedule. Without a date or window from Hello Games, any specific launch year should be treated as speculation.
What has Sean Murray said about the timing?
In an interview published August 10, 2026, PC Gamer asked Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray whether the studio might show more of the game before the end of that year. Murray described an earlier plan to reveal more after the teaser, but said the response and the studio’s past experience led it to decide it did not need to say more at that point. He said Hello Games generally avoids speaking publicly unless it needs to.

Murray also said he had played Light No Fire earlier that day. He did not give a release date or window in the exchange. His comments explain the limited updates; they are not a launch forecast. PC Gamer’s interview with Murray records the discussion.
Do the development timeline or long-term plans indicate a launch year?
No. Murray said he had worked on the game for seven years and was still enjoying it. He also expressed a wish to keep working on it ten years after launch, if possible. The first statement describes time spent developing the game; the second is an ambition for post-launch support. Neither establishes when launch will happen. PC Gamer’s report on those remarks does not give a release window.

Earlier official updates provide context, not a forecast. In January 2025, Murray said the team was extremely busy on Light No Fire. In August 2025, he described a shared, Earth-sized open world with real oceans that would call for large boats and crews. Those comments do not change the press kit’s TBC status.
