Epic Games publishes Fortnite’s server coverage at the regional level only. Its current support guidance names six areas: North America (East, West and Central), Brazil, Europe, Oceania, Asia and the Middle East. Epic does not name the cities, street addresses or facility operators behind those regions, so no official city-by-city list exists.
The regions Epic lists
Epic’s Player Support page “Where are Fortnite’s servers located?” lists the following regions:
- North America East
- North America West
- North America Central
- Brazil
- Europe
- Oceania
- Asia
- Middle East
Note that the list has six entries, because North America is split into three sub-regions. The list describes where Epic’s infrastructure serves players. It is not a count of facilities, and Epic’s page does not state how many data centers operate in each region.
What the list does not tell you
The regional list has three limits that matter for anyone trying to pin down a location:
#1 Best Overall
- Code for Bonus Virtual Item Included – Tooth Pick Pickaxe
- Hall Effect Thumbsticks and Triggers – Contact-free magnetic sensors in the thumbsticks and triggers provide a more fluid pro-level feel to help with precision and longevity
- Low Latency Wireless – Play wirelessly on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11 using the included Wireless USB Adapter
- Advanced Gaming Buttons – Get an edge over the competition with 4 mappable buttons that you can program on the fly, mid-game—no system settings to configure
- 3-Way Trigger Locks – Set the travel distance of the triggers with three different positions to pull off quicker actions in your favorite FPS games or go full throttle in a high-end race car
- It names regions, not cities or buildings. Any city or country you read beyond the region names is not in Epic’s official material, so treat it as unverified.
- It does not identify facility providers. Epic’s page does not say whether its servers are owned or leased, or who operates the sites.
- It does not say which site hosts a given match. Do not assume that every match in a region runs on one fixed server location. Epic’s pages do not describe how matches are assigned to facilities.
Because of these limits, neither a VPN, a router setting nor any other hardware or network tool will reveal Epic’s physical server addresses. Epic’s official sources do not support using any of them for that purpose.
Matchmaking regions and the Auto setting
What you can actually see and change is your matchmaking region. Epic’s support article “How do I change my matchmaking region in Fortnite?” describes the current steps. Menu names and placement can change with game updates, so match the wording below to what your version of Fortnite shows.

- Code for Bonus Virtual Item Included – Moon Bounce Emote
- 2 Types of Glow – Bring the spirit of the arcade to your controller with a glow in the dark effect and a reaction when a UV light is applied giving off a fluorescent glow
- Advanced Gaming Buttons – Get an edge over the competition with two mappable buttons you can program on-the-fly, mid-game—no system settings to configure
- 3-Way Trigger Locks – Set the travel distance of the triggers with three different positions to pull off quicker actions in your favorite FPS games or go full throttle in a high-end race car
- Open Fortnite’s settings menu.
- Find the matchmaking region option.
- Leave it on Auto, or select a specific region from the list.
- Check the millisecond figure displayed for the selected region.
The two options behave differently, as the table below shows.
| Option | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Auto | Epic says it selects the region with the best ping. | Epic’s recommended setting for most players. |
| A specific region | Forces matchmaking into the chosen region. The displayed millisecond figure shows ping to servers in that region. | Useful for comparing regions if you have consistently high latency. |
Lower ping means a faster connection, according to Epic’s support guidance. The number is a latency measurement to servers in the selected region. It is not a street address, and it does not tell you where a specific match is hosted.

Creative games and proximity
Creative has its own region setting. Epic’s developer documentation on “Matchmaking Region” directs players to the Creative Game Menu, then the Settings tab, where the Matchmaking Region option appears. Epic states that being physically closer to the selected region improves response time. This is general guidance about proximity to a broad region, not a map of data-center locations.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If your connection is slow
- Start with Auto, which Epic recommends for the best connection.
- If latency is consistently poor, select a specific region and compare the displayed ping against Auto.
- Keep in mind that the ping figure reflects the selected region only. It cannot tell you which facility or city is involved.
Because Epic’s public information is limited to regions, these checks are the most reliable way to judge your own connection.
