On Windows, the mod’s official support guide writes the path as This PC > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. That is the parent folder, not the Mods folder where the mod’s files are installed.
Where to find the folder
Open File Explorer and go to This PC > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. The mod’s support page describes this as the location where most of its error files are kept.

If your Documents folder has been moved or is synced to cloud storage such as OneDrive, the Sims 4 folder will sit inside that relocated Documents location. Open Documents from File Explorer’s sidebar rather than typing a fixed drive path, and then follow the same Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 route from there.
To find the newest file quickly, open the folder, switch to the Details view, and sort by Date modified in descending order. The most recent relevant error file will appear near the top.

Which files to look for
The WickedWhims support page lists four file types as useful for diagnosis:

The page does not say that all four appear in every case. A given play session may produce only one of them, or none. If you see a file from the time the problem happened, that is the one to keep.

Where the error files are not
The Mods folder is a different place. The mod’s installation instructions put the installed WickedWhims files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods. Those are the program’s installed files, not its error output. If you are checking whether the mod is installed correctly, look in Mods. If you are looking for an error to report, look one level up, in The Sims 4.
How to share an error file
The support instructions name several ways to send a file to the developers or to a forum:

- Create unique sims: A variety of sims are yours to personalize, each with distinct appearances, dynamic personalities, and inspiring aspirations
- Build the perfect home: Construct the home of your, and their dreams by planning its layout, choosing furnishings, and altering the landscape and terrain
- Explore vibrant worlds: Travel between locations, discover amazing and distinctive neighborhoods, and encounter captivating venues
- Play with life: Control the rich and entertaining moments of your Sims’ lives from their relationships to their careers
- Attach the file to an email or a forum post.
- Drag and drop the file into a Discord message.
- Optionally, upload the file to PasteBin or Rentry and share the link.
Before sending files, the support page directs you to its error-file sharing guidance, so read that first if you are unsure about privacy or format.
If a file is too large for the service you are using, the page suggests opening it in a text editor and removing the top portion of its contents. Only do this when the size limit forces it, and make sure the part you keep still contains the most recent error entries the developers will need. Cutting material for no reason can remove the context that makes the file useful.

What an error file can and cannot tell you
The guide warns that an error file may include information unrelated to the problem you noticed in the game. Finding a file in that folder does not prove that WickedWhims caused what you saw. Read the file as a clue, and share it with the developers rather than drawing your own conclusion from its contents.
The LastException Assistant, a separate tool for reading lastException files, looks in the same Sims 4 Documents folder. It accepts only lastException files and gives very basic information. The WickedWhims support page does not recommend relying on self-diagnosis, so treat the assistant’s output as a starting point for a report, not a verdict.

If the problem started after a game update
Electronic Arts’ help article on Mods notes that Mods may be disabled after a game update, and that a mod that worked before a patch can cause problems afterward. If the timing of your problem lines up with an update, check the mod creator’s compatibility information before assuming the mod is at fault. EA states that it and Maxis do not pre-screen, endorse, or support specific Mods or Custom Content, so compatibility questions for a particular mod belong with its creator.
Quick checklist
- Open This PC > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, or the equivalent path if Documents has been moved.
- Sort by Date modified and find the newest file from the time of the problem.
- Check for
lastException.txt,BE-ExceptionReport.html,WickedWhims_Exception.txt, ormc_lastexception.html. - Do not look in
Modsfor error files; that folder holds installed mod files. - Share the file through email, a forum post, Discord, or PasteBin or Rentry as described above.
- If the problem began after an update, check compatibility with the mod’s creator.
The official WickedWhims support page is the primary reference for file names and sharing steps. It does not show a publication date in the version reviewed on 2026-10-08, so check the page directly if you need to confirm that its guidance has not changed.
