You can’t view a separate Fortnite password in the game. Fortnite uses the password for the Epic Games account linked to your game, unless the prompt is asking you to sign in to your PlayStation, Xbox/Microsoft, or Nintendo account. Reset the password with the provider that owns the login.
First, identify which account is asking for a password
If you’re signing in with an Epic Games account, use the email address associated with that account and its password. You may also be able to sign in to Epic using a linked PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account. The linked platform login can take you to the Epic account connected to it; it does not mean Fortnite has a separate password. Epic Games Support explains Epic account sign-in options.
If the password prompt appears on a console sign-in screen, it may be for the console account rather than Epic. Epic Games Support distinguishes console account credentials and verification codes from Epic account credentials. See Epic’s guidance on console password resets.
Change your Epic password if you know the current one
- Sign in to your Epic Games account.
- Open Password and security in your account settings.
- Choose Change password, enter your current password, then set a new one.
Epic’s current requirements for a new password are at least 10 characters, at least one letter and one number, no spaces, and a password that is not among your last five. Check Epic’s password-reset instructions.

Reset a forgotten Epic password
- Go to Epic’s sign-in page and choose Trouble signing in?
- Enter the email address used for your Epic account and follow the recovery steps.
- Complete the verification Epic requests. Depending on your account setup, this may involve two-factor authentication (2FA) or a security code sent by email.
- Use the verified recovery flow to set a new password.
The process resets the password; it does not reveal the old one. If you no longer have access to the email address or cannot remember it, use the account-recovery or lost-email options on Epic’s recovery page. If Fortnite asks for a console password or verification code
Recover a PlayStation, Microsoft/Xbox, or Nintendo password through that platform’s own account support. Epic cannot reset a console account password. If a verification-code prompt appears while launching Fortnite on console, the code may go to the email, phone number, or authentication method on the console account—not the email on your Epic account. Check the console account’s contact details and authentication method, or contact the platform’s support if you cannot access them. Epic’s code-delivery guidance for console sign-in.

Don’t create a new Epic account just to get past the prompt
If you have previously played Fortnite through a console or another platform, that platform account may already be linked to an Epic account containing your game progress or purchases. Sign in through the platform account or recover the existing Epic account before creating another one. Epic provides instructions for completing an existing account associated with a platform login in its Epic Games account creation guidance.
