The Dwarf lives in a small alcove just east of the Mines entrance in the Mountain area. Break the rock blocking the passage with a steel pickaxe or a bomb to reach him.
How to find the Dwarf
- Go to the Mountain region, north of Pelican Town. The Mines entrance is in the northern part of the area, northeast of the Carpenter’s Shop and west of the Adventurer’s Guild.
- At the Mines entrance, look for the rock blocking the passage on its east side.
- Break the rock with at least a steel pickaxe or use a bomb, then enter the alcove to find the Dwarf.
The Dwarf stays in this alcove rather than following a daily schedule, so you do not need to arrive at a particular time.

Why you might not understand the Dwarf
At first, the Dwarf speaks Dwarvish, which your character cannot understand. To unlock conversation, find and donate all four Dwarf Scrolls to the Museum. Gunther then rewards you with the Dwarvish Translation Guide, which lets you understand the Dwarf in the Mines and the Dwarf in the Volcano Dungeon.
