For PC, compare the Ultimate Edition on Steam, GOG, and the EA app; for Xbox, Microsoft lists both the base game and a separate Ultimate Edition. The right choice depends on your platform, the exact contents of the listing, and the price and terms shown in your region at checkout.
Where can you buy Dragon Age: Origins?
PC: EA app, Steam, or GOG
Electronic Arts offers a Windows purchase route and links to its EA app, Steam, and Xbox options on its official product page. During a 2026 page check, EA displayed a $5.99 offer reduced from $29.99; that is a volatile, region-dependent price, not a reliable current or universal price.

Steam lists the Ultimate Edition, with its included expansion and content packs described on the product page. GOG also lists the Ultimate Edition; its FAQ states that Windows is the officially supported operating system. Check the live listings for regional prices, platform requirements, and the exact content attached to your purchase.
Xbox: Microsoft Store
The Microsoft Store base-game listing names Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, displays Xbox Cloud Gaming, and shows add-ons separately. Microsoft also has a distinct Ultimate Edition listing. Cloud access and subscription inclusion can depend on current storefront terms and region, so verify the details on the listing before purchase.

PlayStation and physical copies
Current PlayStation Store availability and new physical-copy stock are not established here. Check your local PlayStation Store or a retailer directly. For digital console purchases, EA says its authorized online resellers are the Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop, and PlayStation Store. EA warns that unauthorized sellers may provide incorrect products or languages, or fake, used, or stolen codes; see EA’s user agreement.
Which edition should you choose?
Choose Ultimate Edition for the expansion and extra content
Steam explicitly describes its Ultimate Edition as including the base game, Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, and nine content packs:
Rank #2
- Scalable combat options that let you decide the level of control you have over your party, including NPCs. Issue orders, set your own tactical AI, or take control of any party member to lead the charge.
- 6 possible playable preludes known as ‘Origin Stories’ which along with your play, define how your hero character will see the world, how it sees you and sets the tone for the entire story.
- Travel across the vast and varied lands of Ferelden; from the conspiratorial halls of the last great dwarven city, Orzammar, to the untamed snarls of the Korcari Wilds.
- Dragon Age: Origins will give you deep character customization options including: class, race, appearance, abilities, and equipment.
- At the heart of the storm sweeping across Ferelden. Decide the fate of nations, people and, ultimately, yourself. Just remember: for every choice, there is a consequence.
- The Stone Prisoner
- Warden’s Keep
- Return to Ostagar
- Feastday Gifts
- The Darkspawn Chronicles
- Feastday Pranks
- Leliana’s Song
- The Golems of Amgarrak
- Witch Hunt
If you want the expansion and the listed extras together, this is the clearest PC listing to assess. Still, compare the exact store page for the platform you plan to use rather than assuming every version defines its included content identically.
Check Xbox’s list if a specific pack matters
The Xbox Ultimate Edition page also describes nine content packs, but its named list includes Blood Dragon Armor, whereas Steam’s nine-item enumeration includes Feastday Pranks and does not name that armor. The Xbox base-game page also presents Awakening and several packs as separate add-ons. These differences make the platform’s own product description important if you are buying for a particular bonus or add-on.

Choose the base game only for a deliberate base-story purchase
The Xbox base-game listing is a separate product with add-ons shown separately. Do not assume it includes Awakening or all downloadable content. Buy it on its own only if you want the base game alone or have verified that buying add-ons separately is a better fit for your needs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to compare storefronts before checkout
There is no established universal cheapest store or evidence here that one PC storefront performs better. Compare the details that affect your specific purchase:
- Included content: Confirm whether the listing includes Awakening and the packs you want.
- Platform and requirements: Match the listing to your PC or Xbox. GOG states Windows is officially supported; Steam shows its own requirements and notes client support for Windows 10 and later. These storefront statements are not an independent compatibility or performance test.
- Total local price: Check the final price in your region, including any add-ons you would need. Offers change, and the EA price observed in 2026 may no longer apply.
- Storefront preference: Choose the launcher or account ecosystem you want to use, after checking its product terms and requirements.
- Subscription versus purchase: If a store shows EA Play or cloud access, check the current local listing for eligibility and terms rather than treating access as a permanent purchase.
Is Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition worth it?
It is the sensible starting point if your goal is to get the main game with Awakening and a broader set of content in one purchase. The Steam listing clearly spells out its contents; the Xbox listing’s pack names differ, so verify that version against the extras you want. If you only intend to play the base story, a base-game listing may suit you, but compare its price with the complete option and account for separately sold add-ons.
