Start in YouTube Studio at Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility to check whether live streaming is available. That exact menu path comes from a YouTube Help Community Product Expert, so labels may differ between accounts or locales. Also try Create → Go Live in Studio and check YouTube’s published requirements: channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and a minimum age of 16.
Where to find live streaming eligibility

Open YouTube Studio and select Settings.

Choose Channel, then Feature eligibility. This path is community-reported by a YouTube Help Community Product Expert; it is not confirmed as identical for every account or locale.

In Studio, also select Create → Go Live. YouTube’s official setup guidance uses this flow to start live-stream setup. If the eligibility menu is missing, see whether the Go Live flow lets you proceed.
Requirements to check if you cannot go live

Check restriction history. YouTube says there must have been no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.

Check the streamer’s age. YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance sets a minimum age of 16.
Streaming from the YouTube mobile app
Mobile live streaming has additional conditions: the channel must have at least 50 subscribers, be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and have live streaming turned on. When enabling live streaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours. These mobile-specific conditions do not describe the general computer setup path.

Why the Go Live option may be unavailable
Eligibility can depend on your account’s restriction or policy status, the streaming method, and whether activation has finished. YouTube identifies policy or copyright issues, age-related circumstances, made-for-kids feature limits, and daily stream-creation limits among possible restriction factors. Check the relevant notice or guidance in your account rather than assuming that missing equipment is the problem: buying a camera, capture card, or other streaming gear will not change account eligibility.

If you plan to stream from the mobile app, confirm the channel meets the 50-subscriber threshold and allow up to 24 hours after first enabling live streaming for activation.
