Recommended Free Tools
Start with Buried City’s Hospital or Dam Battlegrounds’ Testing Annex. Both are repeatedly recommended Medical-loot stops, but neither guarantees a Rusted Shut Medical Kit. Search the medical rooms and containers, then leave when you have what you need rather than extending a risky run without a reason.
Best places to search
These are guide-reported candidate routes, not confirmed fixed spawn points. Choose a site that fits the map you are playing, your route to extraction, and how much competition you are willing to face.

| Location | What to search | Practical trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Buried City — Hospital | Medical-loot rooms and containers throughout the Hospital area. | Several guides describe it as a concentrated Medical-loot destination. It may draw other raiders. Shacknews; MetaForge |
| Dam Battlegrounds — Testing Annex | Check the medical wing, especially the white drawers in its side room. Other guide descriptions mention medical tables, drawers, and shelves in a second-floor hallway. | A strong alternative if Dam Battlegrounds suits your run; account for other raiders and roaming ARC threats. Shacknews; Lawod |
| Buried City — Plaza Rosa Pharmacy | Search the pharmacy’s Medical-loot areas and containers. | A sensible stop on a Buried City route; sources describe Medical loot there but establish no guaranteed kit spawn. MetaForge; All Things How |
| Other reported Medical areas | Research and Administration on Dam Battlegrounds; Medical Research on Stella Montis; or the medical room in Spaceport’s Departure Building. Buried City guides also mention Research and the Piazza Arbusto/Plaza Rosa area. | Use these as convenient alternatives, not as a numerical ranking: published sources do not provide comparable drop odds, yields, or travel times. Shacknews; All Things How |
How to search efficiently
- Pick a map and Medical-loot POI. If you are already on Buried City, check Hospital or add Plaza Rosa Pharmacy to your route. On Dam Battlegrounds, head for Testing Annex or Research and Administration.
- Search the whole medical area. Check drawers, shelves, cabinets, beds, and other loot containers rather than stopping after the first room. Shacknews specifically calls out white drawers in Testing Annex’s medical wing.
- Watch the approach and the exit. Popular Medical-loot locations can attract PvP, and Testing Annex may also have roaming ARC threats. A closed or breachable entrance can help you judge whether someone may have visited, but it does not prove a kit remains.
- Extract on a route that fits the situation. Once you have the item, weigh its value against the extra exposure of searching elsewhere. No cited guide establishes a reliable survival or extraction rate, so adapt to what is happening in your raid.
What is known about spawn chances
None of the cited guides or the community-updated MetaForge item page establishes a reliable spawn probability, average kits per raid, or measured yield for these locations. MetaForge’s player-voted location shares are not drop rates. Treat every named spot as a place to search, not a promise that the kit will be there.
The guides differ in which location they emphasize, so the useful comparison is practical: whether the POI is on your map, how many Medical rooms and containers it offers according to guide descriptions, how it fits your extraction, and how much competition you expect. These sources are secondary coverage rather than official Embark Studios confirmation of current loot tables; loot locations may change with patches.

What the Rusted Shut Medical Kit is for
MetaForge categorizes the item as rare, recyclable Medical loot and describes it as a damaged version of a Medical Kit. Shacknews and other guides report that three kits are required for the Medical Lab level 2-to-3 upgrade, but that requirement is not corroborated here by an official game source. If you need it for progression, keep it for that purpose; its name alone is not evidence that it works as a usable healing item. MetaForge; Shacknews
