The Nukes & Dragons Fallout 76 spawn database, an unofficial fan resource, lists these as the three largest fixed-spawn locations for regular Mole Miners. Treasure Hunter Mole Miners are a separate limited-time event variant, and Daily Ops can occasionally feature Mole Miners as the enemy faction. The sections below cover each case and how to check whether it applies to you right now.
Where regular Mole Miners spawn
The database lists 36 locations in total and separates fixed spawns, which occur at a set point every time, from chance-spawn points, where Mole Miners may or may not appear. The counts below are fixed-spawn figures from that database. They describe where Mole Miners are meant to appear, not how many will be alive when you arrive. Spawn data can change with game patches, so treat the list as a route plan rather than a guarantee.
| Location | Type | Listed fixed spawns | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Big Bend Tunnel West | Mine | 29 | Highest fixed count in the database; the best starting point. |
| Blackwater Mine | Mine | 25 | Second-highest mine count on the list. |
| Monongah | Settlement | 24 | Strong count for a settlement stop. |
| Kerwood Mine | Mine | 19 | Good additional mine if the top three are cleared or empty. |
| Welch | Ash Heap stop | 17 | Useful if you are already working through the Ash Heap area. |
| Monongah Power Plant | Power plant | 15 | Notable fixed-spawn site near Monongah. |
| Mount Blair Trainyard | Trainyard | 14 | High-count trainyard option. |
| Brim Quarry | Quarry | 11 | The database also lists chance-spawn points nearby. |
| Burning Mine | Mine | 9 | Lower fixed count than the entries above, but a named mine stop. |
The database also lists several abandoned mine sites as additional places to look. Use them as fallbacks when the named locations above come up empty.
Treasure Hunter Mole Miners (event variant)
Treasure Hunter Mole Miners are not part of the regular spawn tables. Bethesda describes them as legendary creatures that are audible when nearby. Its support article, “Hunt For The Treasure Hunters – Event – Fallout 76,” states: “Treasure Hunter Mole Miners are legendary creatures, and you will hear them when they’re nearby.” Listen for them rather than relying on a map marker.

Where they appear
In 2020, Bethesda announced that Treasure Hunter Mole Miners “now spawn in all regions of Appalachia.” The original Update 19 notes tied the first event to the Ash Heap, so older guides that name only the Ash Heap are out of date. Because spawns are tied to limited-time events, check the official rules at the time you play rather than relying on a fixed location.
What they drop
Treasure Hunter Mole Miners drop Mole Miner Pails. Bethesda’s support article lists three pail tiers:
Rank #2
- Dusty pail: low tier
- Standard pail: medium tier
- Ornate pail: high tier
During a live event, vendors around Appalachia sell empty pails for Caps, and you can craft filled pails by adding further materials. The support article points players to the community calendar for upcoming event weekends.
Is the event running now?
The support article does not list a date-specific schedule, so it cannot confirm whether the event is active on any given day. Check Bethesda’s community calendar before you set out. If no event weekend is listed, Treasure Hunter Mole Miners are not expected to spawn, and the fixed-spawn locations above are your only option.

Daily Ops that feature Mole Miners
Daily Ops are repeatable randomized encounters. Bethesda lists Mole Miners among the possible enemy factions and names Garrahan Mining Headquarters, The Burning Mine, and Uncanny Caverns among the possible locations. Both the enemy faction and the location rotate, so Mole Miners are not guaranteed.
