You need a Machete to chop them. One guide also recommends continuing to chop the stump after felling a White Fig, since it may yield Premium Wood. These locations and mechanics come from nonofficial guides and may change between game versions.
Where to find Premium Wood
Circle the area around the Explorer’s Club and look for White Fig Trees. A guide updated August 18, 2026, describes trees scattered around the club as the most reliable route; a separate guide also reports a higher White Fig density there than in other zones. Use the tree’s interaction prompt to confirm it is a White Fig before spending time chopping: not every large tree yields Premium Wood. The starting property is not reported to have White Figs. If the Explorer’s Club route does not provide enough, check the Maple Reed vicinity. The two guides support these areas, but do not establish exact spawn counts or guarantee a particular yield.
What tool you need
Both guides identify the Machete, the third-tier chopping tool, as necessary for gathering Premium Wood. The listed recipe is:

Crafting it requires Worktable II. The listed Worktable II upgrade materials are 3 Iron Ingots, 3 Glass Panes, and 4 Softwood Planks. Recipes and progression requirements are guide-reported and may be version-sensitive. Starsand Island Wiki Team guide games.gg guide
How to gather it efficiently
- Upgrade your Worktable to Worktable II using 3 Iron Ingots, 3 Glass Panes, and 4 Softwood Planks.
- Craft and equip the Machete with 4 Iron Sheets, 3 Bronze, 4 Hardwood Planks, and 2 Radiant Crystals.
- Travel to the Explorer’s Club area and confirm each candidate tree is a White Fig using its interaction prompt.
- Chop the White Fig. The games.gg guide says to keep chopping the Giant Tree Stump afterward because it can yield several wood types, including Premium Wood; this stump detail is reported by that guide alone. games.gg guide
- Continue toward Maple Reed if you need more, checking tree identity before chopping.
Other ways to get Premium Wood
These are less predictable than gathering White Figs:
- Zerine’s General Store: The guides report that Senior Crafter status may unlock Premium Wood for purchase. One lists a price of 25 coins per piece and daily stock refresh; the other says it may appear for 25 coins but is not guaranteed to be in stock on every visit. Treat the price and availability as guide-reported, not assured. Starsand Island Wiki Team guide games.gg guide
- NPC gifts or request rewards: Guides describe these as randomized rewards, so consider them a bonus rather than a reliable way to plan a crafting job. Starsand Island Wiki Team guide games.gg guide
What Premium Wood is used for
Premium Wood is a tier-three crafting resource. The games.gg guide lists the Blast Hammer recipe as requiring 20 raw Premium Wood, and names the Mechanical Tiller, Fishing Net, and Powered Hoe among items made with Premium Wood or Premium Wood Planks. Check each recipe to see whether it calls for raw wood or processed planks; they are not interchangeable recipe inputs. games.gg guide
The in-game codex categorizes Premium Wood under Collect Environment and describes it as timber imbued with “the essence of heaven, the earth, sun, and moon.” Starsand Island codex entry
