Spoiler warning: This walkthrough covers a Care Center puzzle, a patient encounter, and the Level 2 ID Wristband reward. The Artificial Heart is in Cold Storage on Care Center 1F; the Artificial Lungs are inside the Organ Transport Box in the West Wing Garage. You need both organs to complete the Examination Room puzzle.
What you need before collecting the organs
This is a backtracking sequence. You need Level 1 ID Wristband access to reach the relevant West Wing rooms. The Heart route also requires the Wrench from the Custodian’s Office. For the Lungs, use the clue in the Leatherbound Notebook from the Lead Researcher’s Office puzzle box to solve the Organ Transport Box. Artificial Heart location: Cold Storage
- Use the Level 1 ID Wristband to enter the West Wing Custodian’s Office and take the Wrench.
- Go to the Cold Storage door in the northwestern part of West Wing 1F.
- Use the Wrench on the broken handwheel mechanism to open the door.
- Enter Cold Storage and take the Artificial Heart from the hooks in the middle of the room.
The tool and access route are detailed by GameSpot; the item’s room placement is also recorded in Evil Resource’s Artificial Heart entry.
Artificial Lungs location: Organ Transport Box
- Reach the West Wing Garage and collect the Organ Transport Box from the van. An infected bulldozer driver may attack as you do this.
- In your inventory, examine the box and turn it around to access its back panel.
- Change the dial from Auto to Hand.
- Move the long slider to the middle mark.
- Lower switches 2 and 5. Leave switches 1, 3, and 4 raised.
- Return the dial to Auto, then open the box and take the Artificial Lungs.
The intended clue is in the Leatherbound Notebook obtained from the Lead Researcher’s Office puzzle box. PC Gamer’s box walkthrough gives the control sequence; GameSpot and PowerPyx also describe the solution. PowerPyx labels its sequence for Casual difficulty, so follow the in-game clue if your difficulty presents a variation.

Use the organs to get the Level 2 ID Wristband
- Take both organs to the East Wing Examination Room on Care Center 1F.
- Interact with the patient and insert the Artificial Heart and Artificial Lungs.
- Defeat the reanimated patient, then collect the Level 2 ID Wristband.
The room reference confirms the Examination Room location, while GameSpot identifies the wristband reward and the access it provides: Evil Resource’s Examination Room entry and GameSpot’s guide. Level 2 clearance opens the Isolation Ward and Security Manager’s Office.
