The key for the locked red-brick building in Hlynka, in the Garbage region, is the Key to the Old Padlock. It sits inside a broken TV in the living room of a white house on the village’s northeastern side. Take it, walk to the red-brick building, and expect a fight as soon as the door opens.
Where the key is
The Game8 walkthrough “Where to Use the Old Key” places the key in the northeastern white house in Hlynka. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Wiki’s Hlynka page describes the same placement, saying the key is in a broken TV in a nearby white building. Both sources point to the same room, so the location is consistent across them.

- Go to Hlynka in the Garbage region.
- Find the white house on the northeastern side of the village and enter through its white door.
- Turn left into the living-room area.
- Crouch and take the Key to the Old Padlock from inside the TV.
Opening the red-brick building
The key opens the locked door of the red-brick building in Hlynka. Walk to that building and use the key on the locked door. Be ready to fight immediately: the walkthrough says a Bayun and a mutant rat attack once the door opens, so have a weapon equipped before you interact with it.
Loot inside the building
The building contains an AKM-74U, consumables, ammunition, and a stash. The stash holds a High-Capacity AKM-74 Magazine. The Game8 Garbage Region Guide lists the same magazine among the region’s stash rewards, which backs up the walkthrough’s loot list. Search the building and the stash before leaving, since the magazine is easy to miss once the fight is over.

Avoid confusing it with other Old Key doors
The Game8 walkthrough lists several “Old Key” locations, not only this one. It also covers keys for the Detention Center and Mindscrew, among others. The Hlynka key is only for the red-brick building in Hlynka. Do not assume it opens every locked door in the game.

The official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 support article on the PDA, dated November 13, 2024, explains how the map works. Press P on keyboard, or View on controller, to open the PDA. Pressing M on keyboard opens the map directly. The map shows regions, locations, your position, quest markers, caches, and other markers. The support article does not add a marker for this key, so use the map to get to Hlynka and the two buildings, then search on foot.

The Game8 walkthrough was updated January 10, 2025. Later updates can change loot tables, enemy placement, or building access. If the TV, door, or stash does not match the steps above, check the current walkthrough and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Wiki before assuming the key is missing.
