Start in the R.P.D. S.T.A.R.S. Office: read Barry’s To Do List, search the captain’s desk drawer twice for a Library Card, then retrieve the named book from the library’s upper level. The photograph inside reveals the briefcase code, RRR, and leads to the Power Shades Charm.
Start the missing-book clue in the S.T.A.R.S. Office
On Police Station 2F, enter the S.T.A.R.S. Office and read Barry’s To Do List on a desk. The note says, “Find that missing library book,” and adds, “Looks like the captain checked it out last.” Evil Resource lists the document at that desk in Standard (Modern), Standard (Classic), and Insanity. Find the Library Card in the captain’s desk
- Go into the captain’s office within the S.T.A.R.S. Office and inspect the desk drawer.
- Interact with the drawer a second time, even if no prompt appears after the first inspection. This reveals the hidden Library Card.
- Read the card: the missing title is Medicinal Benefits of Herbs.
The drawer’s second interaction is easy to miss; if the card has not appeared, inspect the drawer again. Rogue’s walkthrough

Use the photograph to open the briefcase
The photograph’s reverse reads “Rising Rookie Rebecca.” Use the initials to set the briefcase combination to RRR. Return to the S.T.A.R.S. Office armory/equipment area and open the case to receive the Power Shades Charm. The charm is for Leon’s Requiem hand cannon; sources describe bullet penetration and last-round firepower effects. Destructoid’s walkthrough
The note’s location is documented for Standard (Modern), Standard (Classic), and Insanity; the sources do not establish whether all later interactions are identical across those modes. Gamer Guides’ file listings
