Amitoi Expeditions can also return salt as a possible reward. Both routes are chance-based, and no current drop rate or yield per hour has been published, so expect your pace to vary. Shop purchases appear in older guides, but those details could not be confirmed as current.
Farming salt at Windhill Shores
Windhill Shores is the route most guides point to first. The creatures listed there as possible salt drops are:

- Large Stone Crab
- Chestacean
- Megalobster
- Hermit Lobster
These enemies are reported at levels 4 to 7, which makes the area a sensible starting point for a low-level character. Kill them as you normally would while following the zone’s quests or travelling through it. Salt is a drop, so there is no fixed kill count that guarantees one. Games Lantern’s farming guide covers the enemy list in more detail.
Daybreak Shore as a second coastal option
Several guides also report salt drops from enemies in Daybreak Shore. The names given are Sea Crab, Hermit Crab, Starlight Firefly and Iron Chestacean. One guide suggests these enemies have better salt odds than Windhill Shores. That claim is not backed by any published comparison or numbers, so treat it as a tip to test rather than a fact. Daybreak Shore is generally the option to consider once your character is strong enough to clear Windhill Shores comfortably.

Salt from Amitoi Expeditions
Amitoi Expeditions are the passive option. You send a party out and collect rewards when they return, and salt is listed as a possible reward in these regions:
- Windhill Shores
- Urstella Fields
- Monolith Wastelands
- Abandoned Stonemason Town
- Moonlight Desert
- Sandworm Lair
Expedition availability can depend on your progression and on the reward pool the game shows you, so check the expedition screen for the current list. The Throne and Liberty Online guide on getting salt lists these regions alongside its other notes.
On expedition length, Games Lantern reports that 1 to 2 hour expeditions appeared more efficient for salt than 4 to 8 hour ones. The same guide says it is unsure whether this is intended behaviour or a bug. Treat it as one player-observed pattern, not a documented rule. If you are running expeditions while you farm, short runs are the lower-commitment choice to try first.
Buying salt with Star Crystals
Older guides describe buying salt with Star Crystals through the Battle Pass or Zenus shop. The Throne and Liberty Online guide gives a price of 5 Star Crystals for 10 salt and a limit of 50 purchases per month. Those figures are historical. Game8’s salt guide confirms that acquisition methods were covered, but Game8 has noted that it stopped updating its Throne and Liberty coverage in March 2025, so it cannot confirm the current shop terms.

Before spending Star Crystals, open the live shop and check the listed price, stock and any purchase limit. If the terms have changed, that should decide whether the purchase is worth it compared with farming.

Recommended route by character level
- Low-level character: Farm the Windhill Shores crustaceans and start an Amitoi Expedition with a region that lists salt, so rewards accumulate while you play.
- Higher-level character: Try Daybreak Shore for your coastal farming and keep expeditions running in the background.
- Any level: Use the Star Crystal shop only if the live price and limit make it worth more than the time you would spend farming.
What salt is used for
Salt is described in-game as salty powder collected near the coast, and it is classed as an uncommon cooking ingredient. Recipes that use it include Fried Egg, Rye Bread and Vegetable Stir-fry. Games Lantern’s salt item page lists 25 recipes, but that count may not match your game version, so check the cooking recipe list in-game if the exact number matters.
Limits of the available information
The guides behind this article are not dated, and none publishes a drop rate or a salt-per-hour figure for farming or expeditions. The Daybreak Shore odds claim and the expedition length pattern are single-source observations. Destructoid’s salt guide corroborates the locations and enemy list, but it does not add any measured yields. Until a current source publishes numbers, judge your progress by how many salt you collect over a session, not by a promised rate.
