You can play the original The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on a Nintendo Switch-family console through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. To play the separate Majora’s Mask 3D remake, you need compatible Nintendo 3DS-family hardware and either a physical Game Card or access to a copy you bought digitally before the 3DS eShop closed to new purchases.
Can you play Majora’s Mask on Nintendo Switch?
Yes. Nintendo lists the original Nintendo 64 game in its Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics collection. It is accessed through the Nintendo 64 app and requires a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. This is subscription access, not a standalone Switch game purchase. Nintendo’s announcement says the collection is not available in every country, so check the service catalog and plan details for your region. Nintendo’s announcement was published February 25, 2022.
Can you still buy Majora’s Mask 3D?
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a distinct Nintendo 3DS remake, not the N64 version available through the Switch subscription. Nintendo lists it as a physical 3DS Game Card release. The 3DS eShop stopped accepting new purchases on March 27, 2023, so a new digital purchase is no longer an option; physical availability depends on sellers and stock. Check that a used listing is for the game card, suits your hardware and region, and accurately describes its condition. Nintendo’s Majora’s Mask 3D product page identifies the remake and its Game Card format.
Can you redownload a 3DS copy you already bought?
Nintendo says previously purchased 3DS games can still be redownloaded for the foreseeable future. That applies to an existing digital purchase; it does not restore the ability to buy the game for the first time. Nintendo’s eShop discontinuation Q&A explains the closure, and its redownload instructions cover previously purchased content.

What about Wii U?
Wii U eShop purchases also ended on March 27, 2023, so it is not a current route for buying a new digital copy. Nintendo also ended online play and related online communication functions for Wii U and 3DS software on April 8, 2024. These changes do not affect the Switch subscription route described above.

The practical choice is between the original game through a recurring subscription and the remake through 3DS hardware and an existing digital copy or physical card. No current used-game price or guaranteed stock is established here, so compare live listings and the total cost of any hardware and membership you would need.
