You can read dated Peanuts comic strips by Charles Schulz in the GoComics Peanuts archive. Browse by publication date with its archive calendar or date arrows; if you remember what happens in a strip but not when it ran, GoComics support recommends searching AMU Reprints. Some archive pages may require Premium, so check the access terms on the strip you want.
What “original Peanuts strips” means online
The strips available online are historical newspaper work by Charles Schulz, presented as reprints—not newly drawn Peanuts strips. The official Peanuts FAQ describes the newspaper and GoComics strips as reprints from the series’ 50-year, 17,897-strip history, and says no new strips will be drawn and published by the wishes of Schulz’s family. The official Peanuts site dates the strip’s debut to October 2, 1950.
How to browse Peanuts by publication date
- Open the Peanuts page on GoComics.
- Use the archive calendar to choose a publication date, or use the date arrows to move through strips.
- Check the access notice on the selected page. A dated 1952 archive page, for example, displayed a Premium prompt. That does not establish which other dates are free or what access a registered account provides.
GoComics’ archive help documents the calendar and arrows. Subscription offers and access terms can change; consult GoComics directly rather than relying on an old price or assuming a particular date is included.
How to find a strip when you do not know the date
If you remember a character, story, or other detail but cannot place the publication date, GoComics support points readers to AMU Reprints for a more robust search. Once you find a candidate, use its date to locate the corresponding entry in the GoComics archive and check that page’s access requirements.

Can you read Peanuts from the beginning?
The strip began on October 2, 1950, so that is the starting date to use when browsing chronologically. GoComics provides dated archive pages, but access can vary by page; the available information does not establish that every date is free or identify the precise date range available without Premium. Use the date controls to move through the archive and check the notice on each page.

The official FAQ says Peanuts strip reprint books are published by a variety of publishers and are readily available through major booksellers. Collections can be a convenient way to own or browse selected strips offline, but they are not interchangeable with a date-by-date archive.
- Check the date range covered by the specific edition.
- Confirm whether it includes daily strips, Sunday strips, or both.
- Do not assume a book is complete unless its contents support that description.
The FAQ does not identify one definitive complete edition or establish the current ebook catalog.
