In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, leave ordinary belongings with survivors and confiscate weapons, ammunition, and drugs or medication. The tricky exception is zombie body parts: published guides disagree about whether to seize them, so follow the current in-game instruction for that case.
Which items should you confiscate?
Use the game’s contraband classification rather than judging an item by its real-world danger. These examples come from guides published in January 2026; they are not an official, exhaustive inventory.
| Leave with the survivor | Confiscate |
|---|---|
| Food, books, stationery, toys, toiletries, pots and pans, common DIY tools other than saws, alcohol, cigarettes, and money. Other reported safe examples include memorabilia, gardening items, drills, towels, milk bottles, and lamps. | Knives, swords, police batons, guns, flamethrowers, axes, saws, ammunition, grenades, bombs, modified or melee weapons, drugs, syringes, and medication. |
PC Gamer and Destructoid both classify weapons, ammunition, and drugs as contraband, while ordinary personal items and supplies are generally safe. PC Gamer specifically includes medication among contraband and excludes saws from otherwise permitted DIY tools. (PC Gamer; Destructoid)
Counterintuitive items
Alcohol, cigarettes, and propane are reported as permitted, despite their real-world hazards. Conversely, medication is contraband according to PC Gamer. Do not use everyday assumptions as a substitute for the game’s item rules. (PC Gamer; Steam community discussion)

How to handle zombie body parts
This is the main disputed case. PC Gamer advises against confiscating zombie body parts except during the Modern Prometheus quest, and says the carrier is treated as infected and sent to liquidation. Destructoid instead recommends seizing the part and treating the survivor as infected. Both guides associate the carrier with infection, but they differ on what to do with the item. Follow the instruction shown in your current game build rather than treating either guide as a definitive universal rule. (PC Gamer; Destructoid)
How to find and remove internal contraband
-
Use the X-ray and select the “all” layer. PC Gamer says this hides organs and makes objects easier to see.

What happens if you take a safe item?
Confiscating a safe item can trigger a fine; correctly confiscating contraband earns a bonus, according to PC Gamer. Destructoid reports a fine of $100 for each safe item wrongly taken. Treat that amount as a guide-reported, potentially patch-sensitive figure, not a guaranteed value for every version. (PC Gamer; Destructoid)

Steam players have discussed teeth and blood vials, including reports that teeth did not count as contraband and may have been removed. These are anecdotal, version-sensitive comments, not verified current rules. If an unfamiliar item appears, use the in-game classification and avoid assuming that a real-world hazard makes it contraband. (Steam community discussion)
