For recurring payments in India, the card network logo alone is not enough: eligibility depends on the issuing bank, whether the card is Visa or Mastercard, whether it is credit or debit, and whether that exact card supports a recurring e-mandate. Google’s current help list names supported combinations, but it does not guarantee that every card from a listed bank will work. Verify the payment method in YouTube and with your bank before relying on recurring billing.
Cards Google currently lists for recurring YouTube payments in India
Google’s help page lists the following bank, network and card-type combinations for automatic recurring payments. This is the list displayed when accessed on October 3, 2026; Google does not show a revision date on the page, and says support can change. Check Google’s current guidance before signing up.
| Issuing bank | Visa | Mastercard |
|---|---|---|
| HDFC Bank | Credit and debit | Credit and debit |
| ICICI Bank | Credit and debit | Debit |
| Axis Bank | Credit and debit | Credit and debit |
| SBI | Credit and debit | Debit |
| Citibank | Credit | Credit and debit |
| Kotak Bank | Credit and debit | Not listed |
| Bank of Baroda | Debit | Debit |
| IDFC Bank | Credit | Not listed |
| Yes Bank | Not listed | Credit |
| RBL Bank | Not listed | Debit |
| IndusInd Bank | Debit | Credit and debit |
| Standard Chartered Bank | Credit | Credit |
| AU Small Finance Bank | Credit | Not listed |
| SBM Bank | Credit and debit | Credit and debit |
| Union Bank of India | Debit | Not listed |
| Bank of India | Debit | Credit and debit |
“Not listed” means that combination does not appear in Google’s displayed list; it is not a claim about all payments or all services. The list is an eligibility guide, not a guarantee of approval for an individual card.
Why Indian recurring payments need extra verification
Google describes an e-mandate as permission for automatic recurring charges. Its India guidance says cardholders must complete OTP verification to establish the mandate, and automatic payments are limited to ₹15,000 per transaction without additional approval. Google attributes these requirements to RBI rules; it does not show a publication or revision date for the help page.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That means several settings that may permit an ordinary online purchase do not, by themselves, establish that a card can be charged repeatedly. The issuing bank must support e-mandates for that card, and the YouTube billing flow must accept the setup.
Does RuPay work for YouTube Premium or Music?
Google’s card-storage guidance says RuPay cards cannot be saved in its RBI-compliant card format. It specifically names Google Cloud, Workspace and Ads as services where RuPay can still be used, but does not name YouTube among those services. This guidance concerns Google’s supported card-storage and payment scope; it is not a blanket promise about every one-time checkout. See Google’s India card-storage guidance.

Do not assume that a RuPay card that works for another Google service will work for a recurring YouTube membership. Check the payment options presented in your own YouTube account.
What happens if your card does not support recurring billing?
For a new YouTube Premium or YouTube Music recurring-plan signup, Google says a user whose card does not support automatic payments may be prompted to choose a prepaid plan. For an existing recurring membership, YouTube may require the member to verify or re-enter payment details to maintain access. YouTube’s guidance says: “Due to the Reserve Bank of India eMandate requirements, you have to verify or re-enter your payment details to maintain access to your recurring memberships.” Read YouTube’s membership update guidance.

How to check a declined or unverified card
- Start in YouTube. Open the YouTube app or go to youtube.com, open the membership’s payment settings, and follow any verification or re-entry prompts.
- Match the exact card combination. Check the current Google list for the issuing bank, Visa or Mastercard network, and credit or debit type. A match is useful, but does not guarantee that your individual card will be accepted.
- Ask the issuer about e-mandates. Confirm that the particular card supports online recurring e-mandates for the subscription. Online purchase or international-use permissions are not the same thing as recurring-payment support.
- Check prepaid availability. If you are starting a new recurring membership and the card cannot be used for automatic payments, see whether YouTube offers a prepaid plan.
- Re-enter the details if prompted. Google’s card-storage rules distinguish Visa and Mastercard from RuPay and other networks, so a prior one-time entry or saved-card assumption may not settle recurring eligibility.
