The officially named Pokémon include Hoopa, Mega Raichu X and Y, Mega Chimecho, Mega Baxcalibur, Mega Zeraora, Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z, Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert. This is a confirmed list from the official pages reviewed, not a guaranteed complete roster: those sources do not say they name every Pokémon available in the expansion.
Pokémon officially named for Mega Dimension
The official Pokémon Mega Dimension page highlights seven Pokémon or Mega-Evolved forms. A separate official Pokémon update confirms three Hoenn starter evolutions as encounterable in the DLC story.
| Officially named Pokémon or form | What the name refers to | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Hoopa | Pokémon species | Mega Dimension page |
| Mega Raichu X | Mega-Evolved form of Raichu | Mega Dimension page |
| Mega Raichu Y | Mega-Evolved form of Raichu | Mega Dimension page |
| Mega Chimecho | Mega-Evolved form of Chimecho | Mega Dimension page |
| Mega Baxcalibur | Mega-Evolved form of Baxcalibur | Mega Dimension page |
| Mega Zeraora | Mega-Evolved form of Zeraora | Mega Dimension page |
| Mega Lucario Z | Mega-Evolved form of Lucario | Mega Dimension page |
| Mega Garchomp Z | Mega-Evolved form of Garchomp | Mega Dimension page |
| Sceptile | Pokémon species; confirmed as encounterable in the DLC story | Pokémon update |
| Blaziken | Pokémon species; confirmed as encounterable in the DLC story | Pokémon update |
| Swampert | Pokémon species; confirmed as encounterable in the DLC story | Pokémon update |
The official DLC page presents its Mega forms as featured encounters, not as a complete Pokédex. The named Pokémon above are therefore the ones confirmed in those sources; other Pokémon may be available, but the reviewed pages do not establish which ones or provide an exhaustive roster.
What Mega Dimension adds
Mega Dimension is additional story content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Spatial distortions appear around Lumiose City and connect to a mysterious place called Hyperspace Lumiose. The story follows an investigation of those distortions with Team MZ. Pokémon describes the expansion as continuing after the main story rather than as a separate starting point.

- Claim Holo-X and Holo-Y in-game apparel items, which you can wear as soon as you are able to customize your character’s look and outfit in the main game
The DLC also includes Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel usable in the base game. Nintendo Support lists the apparel as available October 16, 2025, and the additional story content as available December 9, 2025. A separate Pokémon update describes the story content as releasing December 10, 2025. Those official listings differ by a day, so the date depends on which source is being cited.
What you need to play
- You need Pokémon Legends: Z-A; Mega Dimension is expansion content, not a standalone game.
- You must complete the base game’s main story before progressing through Mega Dimension’s story. The Pokémon Company stated this in its September 12, 2025 announcement.
- The expansion uses the same save data as the base game.
- Nintendo Support lists compatibility with both Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
Buying the DLC or a bundle
Nintendo Support lists Mega Dimension as a separate DLC purchase and says the base game must also be present on the console. Buying Pokémon Legends: Z-A by itself does not establish that you own the expansion.

Pokémon announced a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle for October 29, 2026, with the base game and expansion on one game card. That is an announced bundle date, not confirmation that the bundle is already available. Check the relevant regional storefront for current availability.
