Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Start with the EQ preset that matches what you’re doing, then adjust only if something sounds off. For competitive play, try a Razer profile for your game if one is available; for clearer outgoing voice, position the microphone correctly before changing its EQ. Razer does not publish a universal best EQ curve or mic-processing recipe for every player.
What EQ should I use for the BlackShark V3 Pro?
Razer lists Game, Movie, Music, and Esports EQ presets, plus custom EQ in Razer Synapse or the Razer Audio app. Its product FAQ says the presets are “each tuned for different activities.” Treat them as starting points, not a ranking of objectively best sound.
| What you’re doing | Setting to try first | How to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Competitive play in a supported shooter | That game’s Razer EQ profile | Razer describes its game-specific profiles as tuned for competitive cues. Its product page names Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Halo Infinite; the list may change. Keep the profile only if it helps you in that game. |
| General gaming | Game preset | Use it as an activity-matched starting point, then decide whether anything needs changing. |
| Movies | Movie preset | Compare it with your usual setting while watching something familiar. |
| Music | Music preset | Start here for listening to music, then choose by preference. |
| A sound you want to shape yourself | Custom EQ | Make one change at a time and compare at the same volume. Razer supports custom profiles but does not prescribe a universal numeric curve. |
Razer specifies TriForce Bio-Cellulose 50 mm drivers, but that product specification does not establish that one EQ setting is superior. The right choice depends on the game, platform, and what sounds useful to you.
How do I make footsteps easier to hear?
Try the Footsteps Boost control if footsteps are your priority. Razer says it adjusts footstep audio with any EQ profile, so you do not have to treat it as a replacement for choosing a game or general EQ preset. Compare it in the game you play and keep it only if it makes the cues you care about easier for you to pick out.

For a supported shooter, you can also test that title’s Razer game-specific profile. A competitive label is not a guarantee that the sound will suit every player, so judge it in your own game rather than assuming it is universally best.
Where should the BlackShark V3 Pro mic sit?
Place the detachable microphone about one inch from your mouth, with the mic symbol facing your mouth. That is Razer’s stated positioning guidance. Before changing software controls, check that the mic is oriented and positioned this way.

What mic EQ or sidetone setting should I use?
Mic EQ
In Razer Synapse, open the headset’s microphone controls and choose a mic EQ preset that suits the voice you want to send. Razer’s master guide says that manually changing a preset makes it a Custom preset. It does not give a universal recommended mic curve, mic volume, voice-gate threshold, or noise-reduction amount for this model. If your software version shows additional controls, make a short recording or use an in-app test and adjust gradually rather than copying a fixed value.
Mic monitoring (sidetone)
Mic Monitoring feeds your microphone sound back through the headset so you can hear yourself locally. Turn it on if that helps you manage your speaking volume, then set the level to what feels comfortable. This changes what you hear; it is not evidence that remote listeners receive an EQ improvement.

Can I change EQ on the headset?
Yes. Razer says one press of the SmartSwitch button cycles through EQ presets. The control dial can be assigned to Game/Chat Balance, Mic Monitoring, or Footstep Boost. Double-tapping SmartSwitch switches among 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, and simultaneous audio. A separate ANC button cycles ANC On, Ambient Mode, and ANC Off.
For more detailed EQ and microphone controls, use Razer Synapse or the Razer Audio app, where Razer says custom EQ is supported. Software menus and available profiles can change, so check the current app for the controls available on your setup.

Does THX Spatial Audio affect these settings?
Razer says THX Spatial Audio is integrated into Synapse and that full 7.1.4 support requires Synapse on Windows 11 version 23H2 or later. This platform requirement is separate from the basic EQ choices above; it does not mean THX is required to choose a preset or decide what sounds best to you.
