Who owns Treyarch today?
The documented corporate chain is Microsoft → Activision Blizzard → Treyarch Corporation. Activision Blizzard announced on October 13, 2023, that it had officially become part of Microsoft. Its 2022 SEC-filed subsidiary list names Treyarch Corporation as a Delaware entity. Taken together, those records place Treyarch under Microsoft through Activision Blizzard.
When did Activision acquire Treyarch?
Activision’s 2002 annual report says it acquired all outstanding ownership interests in Treyarch Invention, LLC, effective October 1, 2001. Treyarch’s own 2021 retrospective likewise says the studio was acquired by Activision in 2001.
Activision reported the transaction value as approximately $15.6 million, including forgiveness of a note receivable and acquisition costs. That is a historical accounting figure, not Treyarch’s current value. The cited records do not establish a current standalone valuation.

Why do filings use different Treyarch names?
The 2001 acquisition disclosure refers to Treyarch Invention, LLC, while Activision Blizzard’s 2022 subsidiary exhibit lists Treyarch Corporation, incorporated in Delaware. Those records document the acquisition and a later subsidiary name; they do not establish that both names refer to one unchanged legal entity over time.
How is Treyarch connected to Call of Duty?
Treyarch is a game developer. Activision credited Treyarch and Raven Software as developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. That development credit describes the studio’s role on a game, not a separate ownership arrangement.

What the ownership records do—and do not—show
The filings and company announcements establish the documented ownership chain and the dates of the major transactions. They do not establish Treyarch’s current leadership, staffing, day-to-day autonomy, or a standalone market value, so those details should not be inferred from ownership alone.
