Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If Battle.net will not save your card or PayPal account, the problem usually traces back to one of four things: old billing profiles that conflict with the new entry, a billing address that does not match your Battle.net account or sits outside the account’s region, a card or PayPal account that the provider will not verify or fund, or a product, payment method, or currency that is restricted for your region. Blizzard’s published steps for the “Please correct the errors below and try again” message start with cleaning up billing profiles and browser data, so begin there and work down the list.
What the error does and does not tell you
The message is generic. It confirms that Battle.net rejected the form, but it does not name the field or the payment provider that caused the rejection. Blizzard’s support article for this message (Article 201216) notes that a precise diagnosis depends on the account’s region, the product being purchased, the exact error text, and the response from the payment provider. Without those details, no single cause can be confirmed, so the steps below are ordered from the cheapest checks to the ones that require outside help.

Fix the “Please correct the errors below” error
Blizzard’s article documents this sequence. Work through it in order and try to add the method after each step:
- Open the Payment and Subscription page in your Battle.net account management area and delete any billing profiles you no longer use.
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, or switch to a different browser or device.
- Add the payment method again, entering the cardholder name and billing address exactly as they appear on the card statement or PayPal account.
- If the method still will not save, choose another accepted payment method at checkout rather than repeatedly resubmitting the same one.
Match the billing address, country, and region
Blizzard states that payment methods billed outside the user’s region will be rejected. Battle.net asks for a street address, postal code, and country of residence on the account, and those details must match the billing information on the form of payment. For example, an account registered in Germany with a card billed to a United States address will fail even if the card itself is valid. Check each field against the statement, not against memory, because a single transposed postal code is enough to trigger a rejection.

Confirm the card or PayPal account can be charged
Cards
Blizzard advises confirming that the card has available funds. According to its description, Battle.net may place a small temporary authorization in your local currency to check that the card is valid and funded. That authorization is generally cancelled within 24 hours. A pending authorization on your statement is therefore an expected part of the check, not a sign of a second charge. If your bank declines the authorization, the issue sits with the issuer, and Blizzard cannot override that decision.
PayPal
PayPal has its own requirements, which Blizzard lists separately from card rules:

- Only one PayPal account may be linked to a Battle.net account. If another PayPal account is already attached, remove it before linking the new one.
- The PayPal account must be verified.
- The PayPal account must have a valid card or bank account attached as a funding source.
If PayPal refuses the link, check these three items in PayPal before retrying on Blizzard’s side.
Product, payment method, and currency restrictions
Blizzard cautions that some products, payment methods, and currencies carry purchase restrictions. A method that saves successfully may still be unavailable for a particular title or currency, so the failure can appear only at purchase time. Because availability depends on the product and the account’s region, test the method with the exact item you intend to buy. Do not assume a method shown in one region or on one product will appear everywhere.

When the account country itself is wrong
If you have moved, the country on your Battle.net account may no longer match where you live, and that mismatch will block any new billing method. Blizzard’s Article 7656, “Battle.net Account Country/Region Change,” describes the process:
- Use the country and region self-service option in your account if it is available to you.
- If self-service is not available, submit a legible image of a recent utility bill or comparable document showing your name and new address for review.
The article also states that balance eligibility and country-specific restrictions apply, and that Customer Support does not provide currency conversion for account balances. Review those limits before changing the country, because a change can affect what you are able to buy or what happens to a stored balance.

Quick triage by symptom
| Symptom | Most likely area | First action |
|---|---|---|
| Error appears after entering the billing address | Billing profile conflict or address/region mismatch | Delete old profiles, match the address to the statement, then clear cache |
| Card will not save and the bank has declined the small authorization | Card funds or issuer decline | Check available funds and contact the card issuer |
| PayPal will not link | Another PayPal already linked, unverified account, or no funding source | Remove the other PayPal link, verify the account, and attach a card or bank account in PayPal |
| Method saves but purchase fails | Product, method, or currency restriction | Try another accepted method or confirm the product is available for your region |
| Error occurs in one browser only | Browser state (cache or cookies) | Clear cache and cookies, or use another browser or device |
What community reports do and do not establish
A March 2026 community forum thread describes a user who received an error after entering billing details, with replies suggesting a region check or a different network. These are individual accounts, not documented causes. They do not establish that a network change or any other external factor fixes the problem. Similarly, browser extensions, VPNs, account locks, and Blizzard outages are not established causes of this error. Treat them as possibilities only if your own case shows evidence pointing to them, such as an outage notice or a change that began immediately after a specific action.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When to contact Blizzard and your payment provider
- Contact Blizzard through its support center. Blizzard files payment issues under “Refunds and payment problems,” and logging in reveals additional support options.
- Include the exact error text, your account region, the product you are trying to buy, the payment method type, and the approximate time of each attempt.
- If your bank or PayPal declines the transaction, contact that provider directly. Blizzard can confirm what it received, but it cannot reverse a provider’s decision.
Keep a note of each step you tried. Support staff can act much faster on a list of checked items than on a general description of the error.
